Learn some basic watercolor painting techniques and then apply those skills to painting birds. Appropriate for beginners and those with some experience painting. Some previous drawing experience helpful, but not required. Materials will be provided by the library and can be picked up before the first session.
Mira Fink is a professional watercolor artist and educator. She has exhibited her paintings over the last 30 years in local, regional solo and juried shows and is represented by Maglyn's Dream and the Mohonk Mountain House gift shop. She has taught watercolor, acrylic painting and mixed media classes for adults and children out of her studio, outdoors and in the community for the last 15 years and has experienced the great joy of inspiring many people to discover themselves as artists. Two simple arrangements 10x10 will be suggested. The instructor will give you step by step instructions to help you with drawing and then applying your color.
 Ellie Anderson has worked as an artist and art teacher for many years in Australia and America. She loves to make marks with anything but especially likes to work in oil, acrylic and pastel (soft and oil).

 Diane DeChillo will retire at the end of March after a 16-year career as Library Program Manager and Grant Writer for SRL. "I will miss the Library community, my colleagues and the many friends I have met during my time here," she said. "It has been an honor to work with the Library's outstanding Director, Jody Ford, over these many years. From the start, I knew it was a fit, as we visioned programs and events, and later co-chaired the annual Library Fair as a team. It has also been a privilege to have been entrusted by the Library Board with the task of grant writing for the Library's ten-year stabilization and restoration project for the library's beautiful 1798 historic building. As a Town of Rochester resident, SRL is my home library, and I fully intend to stay connected, whether borrowing books or attending new programs which have brought so much enjoyment to us all."

 In March's Virtual Story time participants will have the opportunity to create a grassy head leprechaun. Construct this little cutie, then wait and watch his hair grow. Once the grass is long give him a haircut, and watch it grow again. We will also discuss the properties of light and how it splits into a rainbow of colors.

 In April's Virtual Story time participants will have the opportunity to make their own handmade paper. Using scrap tissue paper to create pulp, participants will make a slurry to scoop up and dry. Adding bits of flowers and grass to create decorative recycled paper.
April's observation of Earth Day makes this a perfect opportunity to discuss the benefits of recycling.

¿Hablas español? If you would like to brush up on your Spanish conversation skills and meet other language lovers in a friendly and stress free environment, come join our class on Zoom, every 4th Tuesday of the month from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. All levels are welcomed. ¡Hasta entonces!
Francisco Rivera was born and raised in Spanish Harlem in NYC and is a long term resident of Marbletown. He is a sculptor and has taught sculpture at the New School, the Educational Alliance and the Sculpture Center in NYC. Spanish is his native language. He also speaks Greek and speaks some Italian.
Varcia Venetzanos is a native New Yorker and a longtime resident of Marbletown. She has a BA and MA in the Spanish language and in education and an MA in Counseling. She taught Spanish and ESL and was a bilingual counselor in the NYC public schools. She is also a fluent speaker of Greek, which was her first language.

 Want to brush up or improve your French with a conversation hour? Claudine is a native French speaker, born in Paris and raised in Europe; following a 30 year Government career abroad, she chose Stone Ridge to retire in. Culture, medicine, travels, and anything/everything culinary are favorite subjects-which she would love to share and exchange in French. The program is offered on the third Tuesday of each month.

 Our next book is The Splendid and the Vile: a Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz by Eric Larsen. A fresh and compelling portrait of Winston Churchill and London during the Blitz. On Winston Churchill's first day as Prime Minister, Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next twelve months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold the country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally - and willing to fight to the end.
