Welcome to the July edition of Your City @ Work, a monthly online newsletter. Our goal is to keep you up to date on pending issues and actions before the City Commission so that you can participate in the decision making process. We hope you will find this form of communication educational and informative.

CITY NEWS
NEW CITY HALL COMPLEX UPDATE
At the June 20 City Commission meeting, Commission approved phase II of the new City Hall complex, which includes design and architectural services. The new City Hall complex will be located on 737 Louden Avenue.

2020 BUDGET UPDATE
The first of three budget workshops was held in May. The next budget workshop is scheduled for July 16, 9am-2pm. City Commission Work Sessions are held on Tuesdays at 9am at Dunedin City Hall.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

In order to know when to evacuate for hurricane surge flooding, you must Know Your Zone . Evacuation levels are based on the threat of storm surge.

LIGHT UP THE PARK
In honor of Independence Day, join us for a patriotic celebration featuring a live band and a laser light show in Highlander Park on July 3 from 7-10pm.

KIWANIS MIDNIGHT RUN
Participate in the one mile, 5K or 10K on the Dunedin Causeway on July 3 and 4. The 10K race turns around in Honeymoon Island and the 5k starts at midnight.

DUNEDIN ORANGE FESTIVAL
The 10th Annual Dunedin Orange Festival will be held in Edgewater Park on Saturday, July 13. Enjoy music, food and entertainment from 10am-9pm.

DUNEDIN BAG DRIVE
The Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department and Youth Advisory Committee are collecting bags through the month of July. You can help support a foster child by donating a new bag for them to pack and carry their belongings.

DUNEDIN STADIUM UPDATE

Get updates on the improvements to the Dunedin Stadium and expansion of the Player Development Complex.


CLEARWATER FERRY UPDATE

At the June 4 City Commission Work Session, Commission approved a three-year extension with Clearwater Ferry Services to operate transportation between the City marina and Clearwater Beach.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT RENOVATIONS

On July 27, the City of Dunedin celebrated the groundbreaking for the Water Treatment Plant renovations. Renovations include Equipment Upgrades, Treatment Process Upgrades, Electrical Upgrades, Technology Upgrades, Reverse, Osmosis Upgrades, New Activated Carbon Filtration and
Safety Upgrades.

DUNEDIN CITIZENS' ACADEMY
Dunedin Citizens’ Academy offers residents an “All Access, Back Stage Pass” to learn about their government and the services delivered. Each session uses hands-on activities and lectures to provide participants with insight on how local governments work and the functions of City departments. Citizens' Academy starts September 3.

On Thursday, June 27, 2019 the City celebrated the groundbreaking for the Water Treatment Plant renovations and in 1925, Moffett Moore created auto plates advertising Dunedin as the best water in Florida.
