This Week's Service:
To Fall in Love with the World

Across the centuries, we Unitarian Universalists have striven to change the world for the better. Can we do this while simultaneously loving the world as it is? Rev. Celie Katovitch.

This Week's Drop-In Discussion: Are We Charlie?  The recent killing of the staff of the satirical French magazine, Charlie Hebdo, raises a number of questions, including the limits of free speech and of religious toleration.  Phil Ebersole will facilitate a discussion.

auction Auction Inferno!!

Our 2015 Service Auction yielded great fun and "funds."  Together, bidders, donors, and volunteers raised over $5,000 to support our church's mission!  Thanks to the many, many people who helped by bringing food for lunch and volunteering at the auction.  Special thanks go to the leaders:  chief planner Paula Marchese; tellers and clerks Dave VanArsdale, Bill Jones, Glenda Brayman, and Karl Abbott;  and proxy queens Jerianne Barnes and Karen Ruganis.  And of course to all of you who volunteered, donated an item, and/or made a bid... thank you for being a part of this treasured event!  We had some unsold items- watch for the list being posted soon.

listening ear Can You Hear Me Now?

On January 16th an ad hoc group gathered to assess the hearing assistance systems in place in our church.  With the guidance of Carl, a sound engineer from Brighton Sound and Jane Hickok, a user of hearing aids, we were able to determine that our hearing loop is in working order. It is accessed by using a t-switch (telecoil) on most hearing aids. Its weak spot is in the left quadrant (facing the pulpit) of the sanctuary due to a hum from the heating system which is below the sanctuary floor. Sitting on the right improves things markedly.

We also updated batteries on the 2 induction loop receivers available for loan just outside the sanctuary during the service.

We are interested in learning needs of congregation members and friends regarding hearing needs. To that end, a brief five question survey will be available for a few weeks to get input so we can determine next steps and stay up with the needs as they develop.

We hope the answer to the question, Can you Hear Me Now is Yes, Loud and Clear. Thanks for your help.
