Seniors Reach Goal to Become Bat Mitzvahs at Los Angeles Jewish Home

Recently three women celebrated their adult bat mitzvahs at the Los Angeles Jewish Home, culminating a period of intensive preparation and personal exploration.

One is never too old to make dreams happen, including the dreams of three women living together at the Los Angeles Jewish Home. Known as a destination for Los Angeles-area seniors, LAJH has an environment offering warmth, caring, compassion and safety. For many seniors including Edith Frankie, Linda Frankes and Mildred Moccio, it is also a point of embarkation to set out on exciting journeys of growth, self-discovery and making dreams come true. Recently all three women celebrated their adult bat mitzvahs at the home, culminating a period of intensive preparation and personal exploration.     
 

Grant Awarded to Introduce Laughter Therapy 
Jewish Home Family
(Rockleigh, NJ)

The Jewish Home Family has been awarded a community grant by the Parkinson's Foundation to introduce laughter therapy to its suite of therapies serving those living with Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders.
 
LaughActive is a moderate-intensity group exercise program that intersperses endurance-enhancing laughter exercises within a dedicated strength, balance and flexibility program for older adults.
 

Janice Cambron Retires
Seashore Gardens Living Center
(Galloway, NJ)


After more than three decades of service, Executive Director Janice T. Cambron retired from Seashore Gardens Living Center effective June 25, 2019.  A licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Certified Assisted Living Administrator, Cambron has served in her current role since 2012, and as assistant executive director since 1984.

"Janice is one of those remarkable individuals with a keen sense of duty and a unique grasp of human problems," said Martin H. Klein, president and CEO. "Her devotion to the residents and staff, and her leadership, are truly exemplary. She has served the Home generously and unselfishly. It is with a sense of loss and deep regret that we bid her farewell. We extend our best wishes to her for a long happy life."




Reingold Receives Honorary Degree
The Hebrew Home at Riverdale
(Riverdale, NY)


Dan Reingold received an honorary doctor of laws degree by the Colleg e of Mount Saint Vincent at its 107th Annual Commencement on May 25, 2019. 
 
Reingold, an internationally recognized leader in the field of aging and care for older adults, was awarded this prestigious honor because of his inno vation and impact on the field of aging. He also is AJAS's immediate past board chair.
 
College of Mount Saint Vincent President, Dr. Charles L. Flynn noted that Reingold has "worked tirelessly to pioneer creative, research-based innovation in community living and the provision of care."
