William Allen White was an American newspaper editor, politician, poet, novelist, biographer of presidents, a founding editor of the Book of the Month Club, "the Sage of Emporia"). John Galsworthy was an English novelist and playwright. In 1921 he was elected as the first president of the PEN International literary club and was appointed to the Order of Merit in 1929. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1932. He is best known for his novels, particularly The Forsyte Saga, 1922 which was also a hugely successful television adaptation in 1967.

George Augustus Henry Sala was an author and journalist who wrote extensively for the Illustrated London News as G. A. S. and was most famous for his articles and leaders for The Daily Telegraph. He founded his own periodical, Sala's Journal, and the Savage Club. The former was unsuccessful but the latter still continues. Sala was one of the most influential British journalists of the nineteenth-century.

Volume 2 on the front end paper has a full page inscription about someone placing "poppy petals" (none there now) inside the pages from 1 to 53 and dated 1863?. Letter content marked "personal" by King on the top of the letterhead starts out with King not realizing his friend George Brodie has died and thanks his other friend, Alex D. 13-1/2 x 8-3/8 inches, was folded twice now flat, printed form with manuscript writing on both sides. faded seal on top right of one panel. Some agetoning of very light blue paper otherwise very good condition.
First Welland Regiment Military Commission bestowed upon Thomas C. Street by the Governor General of British North America, Nova Scotia, PEI, etc. - James Bruce, Earl of Elgin and Kincardine & signed by him. - Thomas Clark Street, son of Samuel like his father was a ruthless land and mortgage accumulator and businessman with interests in grist, textile and sawmills.
