Our economic development efforts include seeking ways to foster and encourage entrepreneurship. Together with public and private partners, we hope to cultivate innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and attract business investment across all industry sectors - from Cybersecurity to Distribution Centers. As the new decade begins, our partners in business and education are laser focused on cyber education, training, workforce, and entrepreneurship. Germanna's Cybersecurity program consists of several components: Career Studies Certificate for those who already have a degree and are seeking specialization, an AAS Program for incoming freshmen seeking a career in Cybersecurity, and Industry Certifications for those currently in the industry. Their AAS degrees include Cybersecurity, Networking, and Information Systems Technology. Each of these degrees has a cyber defense focus and transferable to many four-year institutions.

UMW launched a new cybersecurity certification program - the only one of its kind in the Fredericksburg region. It will enable UMW to offer a 12-week, 40-hour noncredit program to prepare
Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP) for successful exam completion. The initiative represents a collaborative effort between UMW, community colleges, Fredericksburg and Stafford County Economic Development Authorities, King George County and regional businesses.

Coursework in the cybersecurity technology master's degree program features emerging topics and projects that develop the skills and knowledge employers are seeking. It also provides the opportunity to interact with employers through conferences and recruitment and networking events.

business roundtables focused on business and leadership consultation sessions for rising entrepreneurs and small business owners. These meetings emphasize learning "the next level" of business strategy to strengthen and expand their businesses. Opportunities to network at each roundtable add additional value to gain other business owner's insights and experiences.

Stafford County EDA, in partnership with our regional economic development partners and private businesses, are developing a regional initiative focused on entrepreneurship using the Internet of Things (IoT). This initiative is focused on Cyber and Smart IoT Technologies that will foster entrepreneurship development in all sectors across the region. In Stafford, we believe, this initiative will build upon the above programs and focuses on our competitive location as the center of cyber and our plans for a Smart Downtown Stafford. We are seeking regional input, support, and a GoVirginia grant to launch this initiative.

This course will provide students with a foundational understanding of federal contracting, False Claims Act violations, risks, opportunities, and 10 best compliance practices. Students will gain a unique understanding of what makes federal contracting compliance successful, how to recognize and mitigate conflicts of interests, and how to use various contracting compliance tools.
