Our economic development efforts include seeking ways to foster and encourage entrepreneurship. Together with public and private partners, we hope to cultivate innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and attract business investment across all industry sectors - from Cybersecurity to Distribution Centers.  As the new decade begins, our partners in business and education are laser focused on cyber education, training, workforce, and entrepreneurship. Some programs and initiatives we want to share with you and highlight include:

Germanna's Cybersecurity program consists of several components:  Career Studies Certificate for those who already have a degree and are seeking specialization, an AAS Program for incoming freshmen seeking a career in Cybersecurity, and Industry Certifications for those currently in the industry. Their AAS degrees include Cybersecurity, Networking, and Information Systems Technology. Each of these degrees has a cyber defense focus and transferable to many four-year institutions.
UMW launched a new cybersecurity certification program - the only one of its kind in the Fredericksburg region. It will enable UMW to offer a 12-week, 40-hour noncredit program to prepare  Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP) for successful exam completion. The initiative represents a collaborative effort between UMW, community colleges, Fredericksburg and Stafford County Economic Development Authorities, King George County and regional businesses.

The Quantico Cyber Hub, located in the Quantico Corporate Center just outside the back gate of Marine Corps Base Quantico, opened its doors on October 26th, 2019. The Hub was built to house the Cyber Bytes Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, the Cyber Bytes Academy (CBA) and their membership organization, the American Cyber League (ACL). The Foundation hosts monthly "Cyber Bytes" to share ideas and provide networking-the next Cyber Bytes is January 23rd.

Coursework in the cybersecurity technology master's degree program features emerging topics and projects that develop the skills and knowledge employers are seeking. It also provides the opportunity to interact with employers through conferences and recruitment and networking events.
