Check out the projects recommended for PSRC funding

More projects are on the way to help the region catch up on transportation.

This week the Transportation Policy Board made a recommendation on the projects that would receive $533 million in PSRC's federal transportation funding. While the funding is a small part of the billions of transportation dollars being spent in the region, these are projects that make a big impact.

T hey include major investments in bus rapid transit in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, adding capacity to South Sounder, and converting jumbo ferries to hybrid electric, to name a few.

Our rigorous project selection process includes funding competitions for Regional FWHA Funding and Regional FTA Funding, along with countywide competitions.  You can see the full list of recommended projects in the board agenda packet (item 7).

This is a merit-based process, with project sponsors detailing how their projects meet criteria, including support for centers and other key aspects of the region's growth strategy.

Regional Open Space Conservation Plan

If you haven't already, I encourage you to take a look at the newly completed Regional Open Space Conservation Plan. It's a remarkable document that maps the open space network in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The plan sets the priority actions needed to sustain open spaces for the long term and will be incorporated into planning for VISION 2050.

Skagit Transit and Kitsap Transit projects out for public comment

Ensuring public input on projects in the Regional Transportation Improvement Program is one of our responsibilities at PSRC. We're encouraging feedback on three projects from Kitsap Transit and Skagit Transit that are new to the Regional TIP. You can find the details here. The public comment period runs until July 26.

Bothell, Des Moines, Issaquah, Maple Valley and Mukilteo featured on KING 5

Five of the region's cities had a chance to shine on local morning television this week. KING 5 Morning's "Five Cities in Five Days" series went on the road to explore the great things happening in BothellDes Moines, Issaquah, Maple Valley, and Mukilteo. The segments are a fun way to get to know these cities and local leadership.

I welcome your feedback on our work at PSRC. You can reach me at jbrown@psrc.org .
