Coffee Hour 'Vacation' Continues Through July
As we take a break from our traditional food-laden Coffee Hour table, we haven't abandoned our enjoyment of each other's company after Church. Three regulars (left), shared stories of golf games, travel adventures, and local news last Sunday. Over a cup of coffee, of course. A few plates of cookies found their way to the table as well. Full Coffee Hour will resume on Sunday August 4, when we welcome the Rev. Eric Zile.

Finance Update
This monthly report encompasses finances through the end of June.
Income:
income lines are strong: pledge payments, regular giving, and Penny’s Worth receipts are exceeding projected expectations. This is a good thing. Income from the Tour of Homes will soon be received and allocated according to the criteria established three years ago.
Expenditures:
most of the lines are within reason with a few exceptions. To that end, Gary Ulrich, Shannon Segree, Kim Davis, and I have scheduled a meeting to make any necessary adjustments, in addition to preparing for our new Priest’s arrival.
We hope to develop
recommendations and forecasts in concert with Eric prior to beginning budget preparations for the 2020 fiscal year.
All in all, we are looking pretty good, thanks be to God!
-- Ralph Wagoner, Finance Committee Chair

Vestry July Meeting Summary
The Vestry met on July 8, 2019 with one member absent. Charlie Galloway received a most reasonable estimate from Mario for the preparation and repainting of the white interior portions of the church only, with special care around letters, and refinishing of the double doors. The color of the interior will remain the same. Minor repairs of the rectory are being addressed prior to the Rev. Eric Zile’s arrival.
Important:
Care and maintenance of the Memorial Garden goes beyond the initial purchase of the niche. It is imperative for all who have secured niches in the Memorial Garden that continued care by them, or living family members/ designees/bequests, is required to maintain this special area. Therefore, all interested persons are invited to participate in the Memorial Garden Committeeʼs re-formation to address planting additions and maintenance as well as with planning for Phase II design. Please contact Patti McCartney to join this committee.
There will be no more print advertisements in the local newspaper. The church directory is available on line and via smart phone app. Hard copies are available from Shannon in the church office.
Weems Memorial Hospital fully supports a local member from the EMS to train Vestry members on the use of the churchʼs defibrillator. Betty Fugate is working with hospital administrator, H.D. Cannington, and EMS provider, Louis, to provide training in September. Please let Betty know if you are interested in this important training.
The Vestry will need three new members to begin a three-year rotation starting in 2020. Elections for these three slots will be in December 2019. All interested persons are asked to apply by first completing a biographical profile which can be obtained in the church office.
Finally, Ericʼs arrival is excitedly expected towards the middle of July. Trinity members and the Vestry have planned a gracious welcome upon his arrival. There will be a special coffee hour on Ericʼs first Sunday - August 4.

In this past Sunday’s reading from Luke, Martha pointed out one particular passage that brought back a special memory of her time in the Seminary.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest”.
With this passage in mind, we are prayerfully seeking to add additional members to the Memorial Garden Committee in order to help with the ongoing maintenance and future planning of our beautiful garden. If you have an interest in becoming a member of the committee, please contact Patti McCartney or Gary Ulrich.
On a different note, Trinity will have elections this coming December, in order to replace the outgoing Vestry members. The members rotating off are: Patti McCartney, Paul McAbee and Gary Ulrich. Please consider using your time and talents to support the congregation’s ministry, by becoming a member of the Vestry.
-- Gary Ulrich, Senior Warden

Progress at Penny’s Worth
Last Wednesday (July 10) the carpet at Penny's Worth had a good cleaning. Next Monday a cleaning service will spend three or four days making it spotless. Opening date is still set for August 6.
Our biggest problem is keeping items off the porch that do not belong. There is a sign asking that people not leave items; however, it happens occasionally. When it does, someone has to clean off the items and throw them away - such a waste - but we just can’t put out for sale items that have been thrown on the floor.
You can do your part, if you like, by checking by Penny's Worth every so often and if you see anything on the porch, please feel free to take it and put it in the garbage cans out in the alley.

|
Looking forward to our opening up on August 6. Enjoy the rest of your summer. Thanks again for all you do for Trinity Church and Penny's Worth. God bless.
-- Penny's Worth Board

Updated Church Directory
Since we first published our new, online Church Directory a few months ago, there have been a few updates. Watch your email early next week when you will receive your own version. Actually, due to several requests for a listing only version (no photos), you will receive two separate emails -- one will include the full-color photo version; the other will include a streamlined, listing only (no photos) version.
Each email message will explain how you can download and save to a file or to your desktop and/or print your own copy. Printed copies will be mailed to those who do not use email.

Susan Richardson, Noted Apalachicola Artist
As most of you know, Susan Richardson, an acclaimed artist and Apalachicola resident, died recently.
In tribute to Susan's life and art, a Retrospective Show and Sale of Original Paintings & Prints will open at the Live Oak Gallery, 156 Market Street in Apalachicola
on Saturday, July 13, 5-8 pm.
Susan's fondness for the cats and dogs of Apalachicola is reflected in her wishes that
a portion of silent auction proceeds during the opening reception will benefit the Franklin County Humane Society. The Retrospective Show will continue daily: July 14th - 20th, 11 am - 6 pm. A memorial service is being planned, but details are not yet available.
