Exciting Grant News!

The Margaret Dunning Foundation has approved the Educational Excellence Foundation's 2019-20 grant request for CTE Advanced Automotive Program equipment in the amount of $35,452.43. The grant will support equipment upgrades and a car trailer to haul the Factory Five Hot Rod that was purchased/built last year.

The mission of the EEF is to help students achieve their highest potential through strong community partnerships. The EEF is thrilled to partner with the Dunning Foundation to continue to support CTE programming throughout P-CCS. We hope this influx of equipment will have a significant impact on students for years to come!

GRANT OF THE MONTH
Introduction to Design and Creation with K'nex
Rebecca Cole & 3rd grade teachers
Isbister Elementary
$1,120

This project engages students in STEM concepts as they create assistive carts or scooters for injured or handicapped stuffed animals using K’nex. K’nex is a flexible building tool that promotes student creativity and problem solving. Students work with partners to explore essential questions to create their models and run through a series of tests. If the tests find a flaw in the design, students can adjust their model to address the flaw ultimately producing a functioning mobility tool. Students then present their project and learning in a format of their choice; written, spoken or digitally. This grant was funded through the the Bosch BE3ST Grant Program in partnership with the EEF.
