Dear Saxe Gotha and other Friends,
Our Change for South Sudan Collection is this Sunday, July 14.

Through the Change for South Sudan collection, special donations and other contributions this year, we have provided schooling for 588 children by funding salaries for 5 teachers, college education for two bright young men (begins in August), training Sunday School teachers in Pibor, saved the sight and ultimately life of 5 year old "John Boy" (see article below), conducted theological education, provided Talking Bibles in the local language and distributed eye glasses.  We are working with the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan and the South Sudan Council of Churches to reduce tribal conflict in the area in which we work.  That has been successful both in reducing conflict and returning abducted children to their homes, while bringing down the incidences of cattle theft.

There is much more to be done.  With your help, we will expand our effort both in areas where we serve today and by adding new areas.  Please help me publicize this by readdressing this message  to some of your Saxe Gotha Friends.

We appreciate your prayers, your financial support and hope that more of you can join us.  Right now, we really need a professional educator to oversee our education programs and an ophthalmologist to assist us in recruiting a team to visit and treat hundreds of patients with serious eye disease. Thank you.

In His Service,
Bill Andress

Update from South Sudan:
Before
"John Boy" Goes Home .  The five year old boy from Pibor, South Sudan whom we sent to Kijabe Hospital in Kenya is going home.  He has had the growth removed, his face reconstructed, spent over two months in the hospital and flew from Kenya back to South Sudan on July 4th.  See the before and after pictures.  The attending physician advises that, John would have lost his vision in one eye because of encroachment of the growth and ultimately suffocated from the growth around his throat.  Already he needed to keep his finger in his mouth at night so that  he could
After
breathe while he slept.  Our support of John's treatment was made possible through your generous gifts to our ministry through
Change for South Sudan.

Please continue your faithful support on Sunday, July 14th when we have our next special collection for Change for Sudan.

Memory Café:   (July 25, the last Thursday of the month) 10:30-11:30 am, generally in the Light House Atrium - this month it is in the Fellowship Hall due to Yard Sale set-up) provides a gathering place for friends with Alzheimer's (or other dementias), along with their caregivers and families, to relax and enjoy socialization, refreshments, discussion and Christ-centered encouragement. Contact Jennifer Dever:    [email protected]  or 359-7770 if you are interested in volunteering or attending.
Fall Sermon Series and Small Groups: On Sunday August 25, we will start a sermon series called "Fruitfulness on the Frontline:  Making a Difference Where You Are".  This will be an  8-week  series that will encourage and challenge us to see how we are missionaries right where we are.  There is a DVD and small group curriculum (that you can download for free!) that goes along with it.  To learn more: https://www.licc.org.uk/ourresources/fruitfulness. We would like small group leaders and locations.  Please let Helen Harrison Coker know if you can lead a group:  [email protected] .

We are looking for a new  Director of Children's Ministry . Are you interested in joining our team or know of someone who might be a good fit? See the link for more information and feel free to share.
