Interclub Council is the managerial and governing body for student clubs and organizations at CSI. Interclub consists of representatives from all student clubs and organizations on campus. Interclub exists to recognize clubs and organizations, distribute funding to clubs, work as a liaison between a club or organization and Senate, provide a forum to discuss issues, share accomplishments, advertise and solicit assistance with events, and improve communication among clubs and organizations.

Tiki Barber is a ten year veteran of the NFL with the New York Giants and a well-known TV personality. He's the co-host of Tiki & Tierney on CBS Sports Radio, co-founder of Julius and Thuzio, a board member of The Fresh Air Fund, and Director of KultureCity, an autism acceptance and inclusion organization.

| Fall 2019 Mini and Professional Grant Applications are Now Open |
The CSI Foundation is pleased to announce the fall round for Mini Grants and for Professional Development Grants. Up to $3,000 is available for each of these grants and projects are to be completed within a year of the award.
The due date for these grants is midnight Wednesday November 6, 2019
and proposals are to be submitted using the CSI Common Grant Application Form.

- To stimulate creative ideas and activities and their subsequent implementation that result in improved student learning and/or success.
- Please note that applications involving changes to physical structures or land in any way will not be considered without written approval from Spencer Cutler.

- To support travel to attend national conferences for the purpose of institutional improvement.

CSI Rad Tech Club sophomore students with the College of Southern Idaho's AAS Degree Radiologic Technology Program - invite all prospective students to come to their three-hour career awareness day from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 8. The event will be held in the Rad Lab (HSHS 178) at CSI's Health Science building on North College Road.
Prospective students will be given information about CSI's JRCERT accredited program, the profession of Radiologic Technology, and the program's competitive admission application process, plus they will get a tour of the state of the art digital radiography lab and learn about the high tech medical imaging equipment used in the program. Each participating student who stays the entire three hours, will receive 2 points towards their program application should they apply by June 1st 2020. There will be hands on presentations and time for questions about the program and the multitude of career pathways students can enter after graduating from the program. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

November is CSI Men's Health Month
|
We celebrate men and your health during the month of November. Why? Because we love you! November will be devoted to health, diet, fitness and other issues of interest to our men.
Now is the time to get your annual flu shot. Did you get yours on campus when we sponsored them? If not, you may see your local pharmacy for a FREE vaccination if you're a benefited employee or by dropping into COSTCO or a flu shot clinic at SCPHD. There's no reason not to participate.
 No-Shave November is a month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness. Participate by growing a beard, cultivating a mustache, letting those legs go natural and skipping that waxing appointment.
Normally, no-shave.org would require that you start that beard/hair from scratch on the 1st of November, but we wouldn't dream of making you cut your current growth. You may, however, wish to participate formally by registering and donating to support cancer research and services. Just go to no-shave.org for this process.
Share this movement with your family and friends and encourage participation among your coworkers and students. We will have prices and celebrations at the end of the month. Watch for more details to come.

S.O.A.R. is required for all students seeking a certificate or degree at the College of Southern Idaho. S.O.A.R. is designed to introduce students to the essential tools for success at the CSI. Each S.O.A.R. session begins at 8 a.m. and runs until approximately 3:30 p.m. Please let students know that future S.O.A.R. dates are scheduled for November 22, December 6, and January 4. They need to choose to attend on a date that allows them to attend the entire day. If students need to attend on a different day than they signed up for, please have them drop the session at least 24 hours prior to S.O.A.R. If they do not drop the course 24 hours before they will be charged for that day. If they have any dietary or accessibility needs have them contact the Office of Admissions to set up accommodations.

The Twin Falls School District has reported that 330 children have been identified as homeless in our community. To reduce a barrier for these children the school district has been able to assist with clothing and there is a current need for NEW warm pajamas. You will notice cardboard boxes around campus that have the flyer above attached. The College of Southern Idaho American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) chapter will be collecting pajamas in these boxes from anyone willing to donate. The school district is looking for pajamas that will work for boys and girls ages 3-18. The boxes will be in several locations around campus from
now until Tuesday, December 3. You are also welcome to interoffice mail your donations to the CSI Mail Room.

If you are thinking Bring Your Own Cutlery, you are correct.
A couple hundred years ago, it was a common practice for folks to carry their own cutlery in a small case. It would be available to them at all times. Everyone carried their own cutlery - the wealthier class carried sets of gold or ivory while the lower class carried sets of wood, stone or shells. This practice also helped prevent the spread of germs.
In these current times, you might wish to take the practice up again. Plastic cutlery is the seventh most common item found during beach cleanups and is considered the most deadly items for sea turtles, birds and other marine animals.
Folks have already started bringing their own grocery bags or beverage containers. Let us start a movement and BYOC.

Tickets are now available for the first performance of the CSI Theater Department's 2019-2020 Season, Legally Blonde, the Musical. The show will run
November 6 - 9, at 7:30 p.m. and March 9, at 2 p.m. in the CSI Fine Arts Theater.
A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!. This is a special collaborative production by the CSI Theater, Music, and Dance Departments with direction by Shane Brown, musical direction by Serena Jenkins-Clark, and choreography by Cindy Jones.

How are you planning to spend your Veterans' Day off? Why not enjoy an astronomical event that won't be seen again in Idaho for thirty years?
On Monday morning, November 11, Mercury will pass directly between the sun and Earth, a rare transit that only occurs, on average, thirteen times per century. The transit will actually begin before sunrise (7:22 a.m. in Twin Falls) and continue until just past 11 a.m. Weather permitting, the Centennial Observatory will be open from 7:15-11:15 a.m. for free, safe views of the transit through solar telescopes.
CAUTION: While eclipse shades are safe for viewing the Sun, because Mercury is too small, you won't see it. Therefore,
under no circumstances should you attempt to use eclipse shades with any form of unfiltered magnifying optics. Doing so will quickly burn through the eclipse shades and could result in permanent, severe eye damage.

Chris Huston is a been-just-about-everywhere and done-just-about-everything kind of guy.
He grew up on the beaches of Southern California during the heyday of the sixties, and got to see all the cool bands.
He attended the University of Arizona as an admittedly indifferent student, who's greatest accomplishment at the time was meeting and later marrying the love of his life, Barbara Lynn Macdonald.
Chris's early goal in life was to be a disc jockey playing really cool music and telling jokes in the morning, but after two years of living the dream (but nearly starving along the way) in both Preston and Pocatello Idaho, he discovered an unsuspected talent in the industry to which he would devote the next four decades of his life: broadcast journalism.
Chris's part-time gig as the weekend sportscaster at what was then KID-TV in Idaho Falls led to a full-time job as a reporter/anchor at KDBC in El Paso Texas, followed by other on-air jobs in Tucson, Oklahoma, Dallas, and Albuquerque before securing his first job running an entire newsroom at KIVI in Boise in 1988.
For the next quarter century, Chris would serve as News Director in a variety of stations, and in the process trained a generation of young journalists. By preference, he preferred working in smaller television markets, where the staffs were younger and more teachable, and his children could be involved with 4-H. Beyond Boise, he ran newsrooms in Tallahassee,Winston-Salem, Erie, Altoona, Wichita Falls, back to Idaho Falls, and then Shreveport, Louisiana, before returning to Idaho for the last time and running KMVT here in Twin Falls.
Chris retired in late 2016, and in 2017 began writing the weekly column Modern Life, for which earlier this year he was awarded the Associated Press columnist of the year award for the region including Utah, Idaho, and Eastern Washington.
Chris is also the author of four books, all written for an LDS audience, and two of which are now out of print. His most recent book: Finding My Way: A Latter-day Pilgrim, an Ancient Path, a Closer Walk with Christ, recounts his and Barbara's 500-mile trek along Spain's Camino de Santiago, a path for Catholic pilgrims created 900 years ago that is still walked today by pilgrims and adventurers alike.
If Chris's path has been a wandering one, it has necessarily been the same for his wife and eleven children, of whom he is inordinately proud, and for whom he is eternally grateful. He and Barbara are also the happy grandparents of 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
But no life is all sunshine and roses. Along the way, Chris has had a front-row seat on the decline and fall of the national news media, along with the rise of triviality and mind-numbing screechings that characterize the social media that is warping younger generations in ways we don't fully understand.
All of which is likely to be discussed in his presentation tonight.

The CSI Jazz Ensemble and Youth Jazz Ensemble will be presenting their fall semester concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, in the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium. This concert is free of charge, but donations to the CSI Music Scholarship Fund are always appreciated.
The concert will feature the CSI Jazz Ensemble, comprised of some of the most talented jazz musicians and students in the Magic Valley, as well as two young student groups. Jazz fans will enjoy hearing classics like "In the Mood" and "In a Mellow Tone." Some of the exciting soloist features include a gorgeous ballad played by pianist Joshua Cruz and a lightning-fast Herbie Hancock tune spotlighting trumpeter Rick Speicher and trombonist Dave Gibson.

 Eugene Ballet Company's Nutcracker stands out from all the other holiday shows as the one to see. Since the early 1900s, the Nutcracker has been the most performed and most popular ballet of all time. Danced to Tchaikovsky's memorable score, The Nutcracker is a favorite holiday tradition.
Now in its 36th year, The Eugene Ballet Company is, in the words of the National Endowment for the Arts, "one of the premier touring ballet companies in the United States". Over its 30 year existence, the company has performed the Nutcracker in 32 states and 7 countries. The Nutcracker performances on December 6 and 7 at the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium are a wonderful opportunity for the local community to see this outstanding professional ballet company.
Eugene Ballet Company's Nutcracker features a cast full of nationally and internationally acclaimed dancers. Artistic Director Toni Pimble overflows with enthusiasm when speaking of the talents of this season's performers.
"The Eugene Ballet Company brings dancers from all over the world to the CSI Fine Arts Center stage. Korean principal Yun-Kyung Kim bring technical aplomb and flair while Russian, Petr Orlov explodes onto the stage. Venezuelan Gilmer Duran brings character and magnatism, Leoannis Pupo Guillen acts the role of the Nutcracker with style. Juan Carlos Amy-Cordero's technical prowess is astonishing while long time principal dancer Jennifer Martin combines maturity with grace and technical acuity."

As has become the custom, local dance students will have the thrill of a lifetime as they perform onstage with the Eugene Ballet Company. Roles to be danced by the children include mice, angels, party children, flowers, and ladybugs. Students were selected by audition and have been actively rehearsing under the guidance off Rayni Capps. "Involvement of local dance students is something that we have always encouraged," according to Toni Pimble, the company's artistic director. "Their experiences with a professional ballet company will be something they will remember for years to come, giving them inspiration beyond their dance studies."
Performances will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on December 6 and 2 p.m. on December 7 at the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium. There are still excellent seating options available for each performance.

IDAHO COMMISSION ON AGING SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT FOR IDAHO'S SENIOR SERVICES STATE PLAN AT LOCAL TOWN HALL MEETINGS

The Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA) is conducting public meetings to provide citizens of Idaho an opportunity to comment on Idaho's four-year Senior Services State Plan due June of 2020. ICOA plans and oversees services designed to keep at risk seniors living independently.
Services that ICOA funds through local Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) include:
- Home Delivered and Congregate Meals
- Homemaker, Respite, Senior Transportation, Chore, Minor Home Modification
- Legal Assistance, Adult Protection and Ombudsman services
At the meetings, ICOA staff will present the following for comment:
- Funding Formula: How federal and state funds are distributed to local areas for implementation.
- Budget Parameters: The parameters to ensure funds are used for services.
Seek community input on program:
- Current strengths, weaknesses, and unmet needs.

The Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA) is developing a four-year statewide Senior Services Plan and has contracted with Idaho State University to assess Idaho's needs. This below survey is about your experiences with the services and resources in your community that assist older adults with living independently. These are also services and resources that provide older adults with choices so that they have more control over their daily lives.
The responses that you and others provide to this survey will be summarized into a report. This report will be used to develop Idaho's Statewide Senior Services plan for the next four years. It will also be used by your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) to strengthen services in your community.
Your participation in this survey is one of many opportunities to contribute to the Idaho Senior Services State Plan. We do not ask for any personally identifiable information. All information you provide is anonymous. The assessment results will be posted on ICOA's website at
www.aging.idaho.gov.
We ask that you provide feedback concerning how these services affect your life. Most importantly, we ask that you read through the survey to learn more about the services being offered, and how they could benefit you or others you know.
The online version of the assessment will be available until November 30, 2019. This survey should take about 10 minutes to complete.
