Do You Need a Name Tag?

For the past several Sundays, Fr. Dick has reminded us to wear  our name tags. Wearing them is a kindness to others and a form of hospitality.

If you do not have a name tag, please sign your name on the sign-up sheet located on the information table in the narthex. Name tags are made weekly and are clipped to the screen. They  are organized by the first letter of your last name. Please don't forget to return your name tag to the                                                                                   screen before you leave.

Thanks always for being so giving and generous!

Malachi's Backpacks Distribution
Wednesday, July 25, 2018

Backpack day is more exciting than Christmas at Malachi's Storehouse. Admittedly, it is not as well-decorated and to be sure we are not dressed in the requisite red and green of the season of giving. But make no mistake, the hearts of children and their parents are as open and grateful as they are the day we give away toys. Each year, providing the Malachi's children with a new backpack to start school is an important way that Malachi's has loved and supported it's community. That's part of what made last year's backpack day so difficult. Last year, we didn't have enough backpacks to supply each child who came to Malachi's a backpack. We had the difficulty of walking a family into the backpack storeroom and asking the parent to decide which child would receive  a new backpack. Mildly put, it was excruciating. So when things are excruciating, we turn to God and to one another.

The Malachi Board met and prayed and decided to use the money that Virginia Ross gave some years ago as seed money for the Virginia Ross Memorial Backpack Fund. Virginia's heart for learning, teaching, and nurturing the fresh minds of children will be honored each time we give a backpack away. We will be able to see her impish grin in our mind's eye each time we give. Help us provide each child in our community with a backpack that empowers and enables them to be equally prepared to learn as the rest of the kids in class. Thanks for remembering Virginia, Malachi's kids, and the encouragement of Jesus who told us to welcome the stranger and take care of one another.

You con contribute to the Virginia Ross Memorial Fund or bring a new backpack for us to give away! Please have backpacks to the church by  July 23rd. To g ive online, click here If you contribute online, please use the drop-down function to access the Virginia Ross Memorial Backpack Fund.

August 24-26, 2018!

Modeled after Cursillo, Walk to Emmaus, and Happening, Discovery is a weekend with activities for all ages, with plenty of opportunity for sharing, learning, building community, singing and fun! At Discovery, you will make new friendships and strengthen your ties to God and your church family. There are two separate offerings: one for adults and YEA, and another for children, Rite 13 and J2A. And while it is an in-house renewal weekend, you will return Friday and Saturday nights to sleep in the comfort of your own bed! Discovery is a gift to you from the Parish. We only ask that you commit to participating the entire weekend. So please mark your calendars, pray about joining us on Discovery, and stay tuned for more information.
