100 Days until 100 Years

Join us on Monday, July 15 as we celebrate entering the final 100 days before Ontario Shores reaches the century mark as an organization. 

In an addition to special announcements, the day will feature a Farmers Market on our grounds as well as visits from a variety of Food Trucks.

In Our Minds - Art Exhibition

In Our Minds is a collaboration between  The Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG)  and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. Currently on exhibition at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa - July 6, 2019 - October 27, 2019.  

A Conversation with Jack Armstrong

On June 12, 2019 Ontario Shores held its 13th Annual General Meeting. The event featured an inspiring talk by Jack Armstrong, broadcaster with TSN and voice of the Toronto Raptors. Jack joins host Darryl Mathers on this episode of #MindVineTV to talk basketball and mental health.
Century of Care Speaker Series

Ontario Shores' Century of Care speaker series features stories and topics that celebrate recovery, embrace our history and imagine the future in the months leading up to the hospital's 100th anniversary on October 23, 2019.
Ian Hakes 

Ian Hakes is a community volunteer who lives with Chronic Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
 
He was born in Winnipeg and lived there until he moved to the country outside of Edmonton in 1987. He moved to Kingston, Ont., at 18 to study physics at Queen's University.
 
Diagnosed at 20 with chronic depression, he managed to continue with his studies, graduating with a honours Bachelor of Science in Physics, followed a year later by a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature.
 
Over the course of the next few decades, his mental health worsened. Ian credits Ontario Shores' Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for rebuilding his mental wellness. Ian has also accessed a number of resources at Ontario Shores including Vocational Services, Metabolic Clinic and Recovery College.
  
Today, Ian is co-parenting his two wonderful kids as they grow into young adults, and looking to return to embark on the next chapter of his career. He has a strong desire to help others get the assistance they need on their journey to mental wellness.

Call for Artists for Juried Art Show 

Ontario Shores is 'Celebrating a Century of Care' with a juried art show as it prepares to turn 100 on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.

During the months of July and August Ontario Shores will welcome works of art that connect with mental illness, mental health, recovery and the hospital's history of providing care from its site in Whitby, Ontario.

'Celebrating a Century of Care' is an open-ended and versatile theme steeped in history and emotions that will surely ignite diverse, thoughtful responses.
