Friends,
We're excited to continue our journey to put more money on the front lines of mental health and addictions across Canada.
We finished up our big 5-OH for ADAD promotion from which we got many new Dollar-A-Dayers! We couldn't get enough of the thrill of contests so we decided to do another one for Canada's birthday!
We also got the chance to travel around Ontario to make donations to great causes - made possible by our Dollar-A-Dayers and our corporate partners. First, we made a donation to the CMHA program Living Life to the Full in Toronto, then to the Mental Health Engagement and Response Team in Woodstock and Langs Community Centre in Cambridge. We also received a donation from Karen Post who raised money for a Dollar A Day by making and selling delicious butter tarts.
If you have not contributed yet, you can be a part of this movement for improved mental health and addictions care! Please consider becoming a
Dollar-A-Dayer- together we
can make a difference!
All the best,
Brendan, Alan & Andrew

The Big 5-OH for ADAD
Alan Doyle, Co-Founder of A Dollar A Day, turned 50 in May! His only birthday wish was for people to become Dollar-A-Dayers, so of course we had to help grant him his wish.
Everyone who became a Dollar-A-Dayer throughout the month of May automatically received a Dollar A Day prize pack including a Dollar-A-Dayer toque and an autographed photo! Along with the awesome prize pack, everyone who became a Dollar-A-Dayer was entered to win the grand prize - two tickets to an Alan Doyle concert of the winner's choice!
We wouldn't want to exclude the Dollar-A-Dayers who have been Dollar-A-Dayers since before Alan's big 5-OH, so everyone who was already a Dollar-A-Dayer had a chance to enter for a chance to win the grand prize by posting their selfie video to social media wishing Alan a happy birthday and stating that they are a Dollar-A-Dayer!
Thank you to the over 100 of you who became Dollar-A-Dayers during the month of May! You helped grant Alan's birthday wish and we are so grateful.
Thanks to everyone who was already a Dollar-A-Dayer and took the time to send their birthday wishes to Alan.
A special congratulations to the winner of the Grand Prize, Dollar-A-Dayer
Katie Bonikowsky! Katie attended Alan Doyle's Jackson Triggs concert on July 4, 2019. Thank you for participating Katie.
Happy birthday Alan! Hope you're enjoying 50!

Oh Canada Social Media Contest
|
|
Alan Doyle wasn't the only one with a birthday recently! Canada day was July 1, and Co-Founder Alan Doyle was set to sing at the Blue Jays game on July 2nd. We decided that there's no better way to celebrate than to invite a Dollar-A-Dayer to watch the game in the corporate suite with the Dollar-A-Day crew. We threw a 10-day social media contest and Dollar-A-Dayer Shirley Hornich won! Thanks to everyone who participated!

Living Life to the Full
A Dollar A Day Co-Founders Alan Doyle and Brendan Paddick visited Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division in Toronto, ON, to present a donation in support of the Living Life to the Full program on July 2, 2019.
Living Life to the Full is a mental health promotion course designed to help people deal with everyday life challenges and learn self-management skills using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles, and this $15,000.00 donation, made possible by A Dollar A Day Foundation donors, will support their continuing work on the frontlines of mental health and addictions.
The course is suitable for people of all ages – from youth to seniors. Living Life to the Full is an effective way to improve depression, anxiety and social function when delivered in a community setting. This effect is observed even 6 months after the course ends.

Karen Post;
the power of giving
While in Ontario, foundation Co-Founders Alan Doyle and Brendan Paddick visited the Red Roof Retreat to spend some time and accept a cheque from Dollar-A-Dayer Karen Post for the A Dollar A Day foundation.
Karen Post spent June making butter tarts and selling them - all to raise money for A Dollar A Day! Thank you so much Karen for your support of the A Dollar A Day foundation.

TMMC Donations
Cambridge and Woodstock
On July 4, 2019, Co-Founders Brendan Paddick and Alan Doyle visited Cambridge, ON and Woodstock, ON to present donations to two causes in partnership with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC).
The recipient of funds in Woodstock was the Mental Health Engagement and Response Team (MHEART) mobile crisis intervention program. The MHEART program is a partnership between Oxford County OPP, the Woodstock Police Service and the Canadian Mental Health Association. Crisis clinicians from CMHA are paired with on-duty police officers to respond to calls which are mental health and addictions related. This makes it easier for people to get the help they need and deserve, and keeps them out of the emergency room.
The recipient of funds in Cambridge was Langs Community Centre in support of the “youth wellness hub” and “connectivity table” initiatives. The Youth Wellness Hub will serve children and youth with a range of programs and services focusing on mental health, employment and education. The Youth Wellness Hub will decrease barriers to access, address gaps in service, and enable youth and families to access services most suited to meet their needs. The Connectivity Table is a multi-disciplinary, interagency approach to addressing situations of acutely elevated risk on a case-by-case basis. Locally, 25 representatives from health, social, and justice services together at a weekly meeting to collaboratively and proactively address situations of elevated risk at Langs.
