A developer is downsizing, relocating and making more environmentally friendly a proposed housing project planned for a North Side shopping center. The roughly $5.5 million, four-story, 27-unit Prism apartments promises state-of-the-art technology, including smart services for lighting, security, heating and cooling, entry and appliances, as well as solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations and participation in renewable energy programs.

DEVELOPER DROPS BID TO REDEVELOP ESSEN HAUS BLOCK
 
Facing a redevelopment wrecking ball, Downtown's venerable Essen Haus German restaurant has been spared for now. Developer Lance McGrath has dropped plans to buy the Essen Haus, the Come Back In and another building on the 500 block of East Wilson Street, a large parking lot behind them, and four houses from 110 to 120 S. Blair St. for a mixed-use project.

SUB-ZERO GROUP'S $70 MILLION EXPANSION COULD CREATE 100 JOBS IN FITCHBURG
 
Madison-based appliance company Sub-Zero Group said Monday it plans to create 100 jobs as it expands in Fitchburg with a new research and development facility.

A large building is being proposed for a new industrial area in Germantown where two other similar projects are happening. The 248,000-square-foot building would be developed on 45.5 acres near the southwest corner of the Rockfield and Goldendale roads, less than a mile east of I-41, according to a Plan Commission report.
