LGBTQ Cultural Competency Training - FREE!

August 9th, 9am-4pm

WWf(a)C welcomes Lighthouse Youth & Family Services for a special class to increase competence in discussing sexual orientation and gender identity.

Often subject to harassment, LGBTQ youth have higher rates of depression, suicide and homelessness. This training helps to promote safe, competent and supportive care and environments for LGBTQ young people.

Great Connections Made at Taste of Silverton

The skies cleared and we had a beautiful evening for the annual Taste of Silverton on June 22nd.

Lisa Rocklin and Marilyn Nolan worked the WWf(a)C booth and connected with a lot of people who write and were interested in what we do. Former Ohio State Representative Alicia Reece stopped by (to chat) and we had an engaging conversation.

The event was great fun, with scrumptious food and drink, and an awesome band. We will definitely be back next year!
Gifts of Stock

Do you have stock or other securities that have appreciated in value? Did you know that these can make excellent gifts to WWf(a)C?

Donating appreciated securities, held for over one year, will allow you to avoid long term capital gains tax that would be due if you sold these shares.

Consider making a gift that costs you less! Your charitable gift value and federal tax deductible amount is based on the fair market value of the donated shares, on the date of the gift.

As always, please consult your attorney or financial advisor about benefits or restrictions that may apply to your particular situation.
Bring Your Friends and
Get Ready to Laugh

Join us on July 30th at Go Bananas Comedy Club, for an evening of fun, laughter and support of fellow writers and Women Writing for (a) Change! Suz Fleming will emcee the show, which is produced by Teri Foltz. The hilarity includes stand-up comics Brittany Freudiger, Meg Raut Howes, Drue Johnston, MC Rietz, Ned Sneed and Christine Wilson; singer/songwriters Roberta Schultz and Randy Weeks; playwright Diane Germaine, in her 5-minute play, Izzy's Ashes, with Teri Foltz and Claudia Kasvin; and a lip sync by Eva Lewandowski & Charlie Lobosco.

Enter a door prize drawing at the show, to win a WWf(a)C class voucher worth up to $309 toward one class series.

Tickets available at GoBananas.com. All ticket sales go to Women Writing for (a) Change.
