A Note From Our Founder
Our mission to help the pets of the homeless has a double edge: sadness and empathy that a person and their pet is homeless, but glad we can help eliminate the pain and suffering of the pet and give hope to the homeless that someone cares.

This month, I wanted to send a positive message. Like many, I am drained from the negative and after a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, it feels hard to find the positive. To do this, I am focusing on the power of positive thinking.

Positive words instill positive thoughts, so try this: “Today is going to be a good day” or “I’ll be amazing today.” Success is achieved and maintained by those who try and keep on trying with a positive mental attitude.

I have learned to focus on the good things in my life no matter how small they may seem. A sunny morning, a kiss from my partner, a dog on my lap, a novel to lift my spirits that takes me to another time and place, anything that will take my mind to a happy place.

As Benjamin Franklin said, “Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.”

May today and the days that follow be full of peace and love.

With warm thoughts and wishes,

Sega
Springfield, Oregon

A homeless man and his Retriever mix, Sega, were both hit by a car in Springfield, OR. Sega had two broken legs.

We helped pay for Sega's surgery for his back leg.
Edmond
Riverside, California

A homeless woman living in her van in Riverside, CA, called about her Chihuahua Papion mix, Edmond, who needed vaccinations when the vet tech noted he had infected teeth.

Attn: Direct Mail Recipients
Our sincere apologies to those who received more than a few direct mail letters last month. The direct mail company mistakenly mailed out a duplicate letter to supporters a few days apart. We have been guaranteed that it will not happen again. If you wish to stop receiving our letters, please email us at info@petsofthehomeless.org with instructions to stop direct mail.
Board Member Spotlight
Mike Pulver, DVM

Mike Pulver, DVM has been a member of the board for Feeding Pets of the Homeless for the last 6 years.

He is a veterinarian in Carson City, NV where he owns his own practice.

"Our family has three dogs, a German shorthair pointer, a golden doodle and a terrier. We also have three bantam chickens that produce eggs."

He has run a yearly wellness and vaccination clinic in Carson City for the last five years.

"It is one of my favorite days of the year. We are able to help people who normally wouldn’t be able to get care for their pets. These folks love their animals and are really appreciative of the opportunity to get their pets checked out. For many homeless, their pets provide a critical bond and much-needed companionship."
