Henry E. Haegg Leaves a Legacy Gift of $4.5 Million for His Community The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation received a $1.1 million gift from the estate of Henry E. Haegg. Henry, who passed away in 2017, was a successful businessperson and renowned philanthropist throughout his life. This is the third gift from the estate, which has provided $4.5 million of unrestricted gifts to the Community Foundation.

Grants Seek to Engage Youth and Reduce Violence Applications will be accepted until October 10, 2019 for the second round of grants from the Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities (SET) Fund. Up to $40,000 is available, and preference will be given to programs that involve youth in program design. Planning sessions in July, August and September will allow conversation and collaboration on innovative program design.

Having met the high standards for tenure in the profession, education and demonstrated fundraising achievement, Laura joins fewer than 60 CFREs in the state of Iowa.

Community Learning Series: Growth, Inclusion and Opportunity in the Local Economy On May 29, the Community Foundation hosted the first event in a new effort to elevate awareness, generate discussion and encourage ac-tion around issues of broad community importance. Nearly 60 people gathered over the lunch hour for the Community Learning Series: Growth, Inclusion and Opportunity in the Local Economy. Susan Longworth, Senior Business Economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, presented research on economic policy throughout the Midwest.
