July 2019--Happy Fourth of July!
Mystery Night with Three Authors
Wednesday, July 10 @ 7:00 pm

This is not your usual mystery author night! Watch a mystery being created from information you provide and while the authors are at work you'll be enjoying a dessert buffet! We will welcome Kate Flora, Connie Johnson Hambley and Clea Simon and learn first-hand about the craft of mystery writing. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Porter Square Books. As always, it's free!
Cookbook Club
Monday, July 15 @ 12 noon

The Maynard Farmers' Market is now open on Saturdays and cookbook club will be focusing on fresh and local ingredients. For July, our cookbook is Minimalist Baker's Everyday Cooking by Dana Shultz. Its recipes are all plant-based and mostly gluten-free. All are welcome!
If you've never been, here's how it works. Pick up a cookbook at the Circulation Desk, read and cook from as much of the cookbook as you like, choose a recipe and prepare it for the potluck lunch. After the meal, we talk about our experience with the recipes and the book.
Summer Reading for Kids and Teens

Summer reading has begun, but kicks into high gear as kids start reporting and spinning the prize wheel on Friday! Not signed up yet? There's still plenty of time. You can read all about the reading club and special events here. Teens have their own club which is described here.

There's a special event for kids aged 3-7 on Wednes day, July 10 at 10:30 am--Song and Dance Around the World. Sagit Zilberman will introduce instruments, lead a sing-along and teach dances to music from across the globe. Sign up by calling 978-897-1010 x106.

Special Note about Truck Day--Mr. Mark had to change the time because the fire truck had a conflict in its schedule! Truck Day will now be held on July 17 from 2 - 3 at St Bridget's.
Museum Passes for Summer

As you plan your summer adventures, remember that the library has passes for lots of area attractions. You can see the list and make reservations here. The site also shows details for each pass. The Friends of the Library are happy to make these passes available to you!

A few things you might not know:
Zoo New England, Ecotarium and Trustees Go Pass are not date-specific, so you can use them any time. These might be good to have on hand for an emergency outing.
Trustees Go Pass, Mass Audubon, Historic New England, Mass State Parks all can be used at locations across Massachusetts (and New England.) Think about these for your day trips this summer.
New England Aquarium is now available in July and August!
And don't forget that we now have a pass for ICA Boston.
