High school youth spend a week in Washington, DC

Reflection: Using our hands and feet in service to God
At DC Central Kitchen, we spent hours in the back of an industrial kitchen chopping vegetables, breading chicken and packaging fruit in preparation for 5,000+ meals served daily.

At Charlie's Place and Thrive DC, we served meals and enjoyed conversations with the many folks experiencing homelessness around DC. Read more here.

Ongoing need for Freedom School volunteers
Great Day of D.E.A.R. is July 17
It takes many hands to support Freedom School children over the course of the summer.  We need supply volunteers to provide teacher gifts, deliver food bags and especially chaperone field trips.  Details and registration here.
  • Great Day of D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) is Wednesday, July 17 from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. We need many volunteers to read with our scholars at Highland Renaissance Academy. All are welcome, including parents who wish to bring their children for a meaningful introduction to the work of Freedom School. Details and registration here.
Construction update: Completing the Circle
Project will improve accessibility
The leadership team has decided to replace the entire Circle (including driveway) to create a center campus that will be completely accessible to all. It will be on the same grade as the new building.

The Circle will be closed to traffic for a short time, but sidewalk access will be maintained from the parking lot to the Sanctuary (around the fencing). Also, access to the parking lots will remain - including spaces at the Rec Wing. Greeters in key spots on Sunday mornings will help guide worshipers.

Church-wide environmental justice forum
Sunday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Inspired by Bob Henderson's sermon this past Sunday? Learn more about God's call to environmental stewardship and how you can be a proactive advocate. A church-wide forum will feature a panel of scientists, theologians and advocates. All are welcome.  Learn more here.
