Author Talk
R. Eli Paul will discuss via telephone the book "The Frontier Army." The book consists of seven essays that provide new insights into the Army's role in present-day South Dakota and the Black Hills between 1854 and 1890. Paul wrote one of he essays and edited the book. Everyone is welcome to attend the free program. The book is sold at the Heritage Stores at the Cultural Heritage Center and the Capitol.

All moms and their supporters are welcome to attend this class to learn the basics of breastfeeding that will assist mom and baby to become successful at breastfeeding. Dr. Carole Brown, Director of the Catholic Retreat Center in Rapid City, SD, will speak on "To Know Christ and to Make Him Known." Dr. Brown was the Director of Evangelization and Outreach at Franciscan University for 8 years. She missioned in Europe. Capital Area Snow Queen has 4 categories to compete in. Jr Snow Queen is for Pierre and Ft Pierre Students ages 14-16. Sr Snow Queen is for Pierre and Ft Pierre students ages 17-19. Jr Talent is for anyone under the age of 16. Sr Talent is for anyone over the age of 16. The winners of all 4 categories will go on to compete at the State Snow Queen competition in Aberdeen. There will also be a Future Snow Queen event for ages 4-7. This is not a competition and no winner will be selected. Applications and sign up are due by November 8th.
