Help with UMCOR Disaster Response in Texas |
|
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own. Through UMCOR, United Methodists extend loving care to people within the United States. When disaster strikes, it is local churches that provide the first response to their communities. This basic understanding—that disaster response is local—forms the foundation for UMCOR’s U.S. disaster training and response.
You can support the UMCOR Disaster response by sending a check to BUMC with the memo earmarked Advance #901670 to assist people in Texas and other states.

Volunteers Needed
LCM is in need of a 6 additional volunteers to assist with weekly and monthly food pick up from various suppliers. The regularly scheduled food pick ups are detailed in this Volunteers Flyer.

Helping Hospital Staff care for COVID patients
COVID patients spend extensive periods in isolation with no contact and nothing to do. The rehab department at Roanoke Memorial Hospital is asking for donations to include in an Activity Box used to offer activity options to COVID patients at the hospital. Can you help with a donation? This 2 day virtual event will cover topics including understanding dementia, managing problem behaviors, handling stress, finding time for you. The workshop is March 24 and 25 from 9-11 am.
