Dr. Nicki Washington, Professor of the Practice at Duke University, will be the speaker for this year's DIGITAL event! Dr. Washington is the author of Unapologetically Dope, and she will be sharing her advice on surviving and thriving in technical fields. Her talk will run 30 minutes and then attendees will have the opportunity to join small breakout discussions. We're excited to facilitate conversations with young women interested in technology and our university students and alumni working in tech fields.

Voya Financial Chief Security Architect Rich Wickersham will be presenting a free online presentation "Social Media OPSEC, Targeting Analysis and Countermeasures" 6-8 p.m. March 1st. His talk will review the continuing need for employee and corporate operations security (OPSEC) on social media platforms, focusing on LinkedIn.
Wickersham has more than 20 years of experience designing, implementing and securing resilient architectures for both public and private organizations. He has held previous leadership roles at AIG, Fannie Mae, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. His presentation will focus on threats and attacks in the social media age and measures to counter those threats.
This is the first presentation in the Tech Bytes 2021 series, which is partly funded by a gift from the National Center for Women & Information Technology's Learning Circles Program designed to attract more women and minorities to the computer science field. Funding is also coming from Delti Phi, LFCC's chapter of the international technology honor society Epsilon Pi Tau, as an effort to provide networking opportunities to students.

Pharrell Williams, Georgia Tech, and Amazon invite you to engage your students in an inspiring new learning experience that explores the ways music, computer science, and entrepreneurship can be tools to advance racial equity.
Students explore how computer science, music, and entrepreneurship can advance equity. Using Georgia Tech's EarSketch platform, students code a 30 second - 3 minute musical remix using Pharrell's new song "Entrepreneur". Submitted remixes will be judged based on quality of music, code, and messaging by a panel of industry professionals.
Students can compete with their class or on their own from January 15 to June 4, 2021. Five students will win a $5,000 scholarship or grant to start a business, and five teachers will receive $1,000 for above and beyond instruction.
There will be two rounds:
- Round one opens on January 19, 2021 and closes March 12, 2021
- Round two opens on March 15, 2021 and closes June 4, 2021

Curious? Competitive? Detailed? Enjoy using computers and machines? If you answered yes to any of these, this exciting robotics camp is for you! Each day you'll use the latest robotic arm technology to learn a variety of technical skills required to complete robotic task challenges that will have your heart racing!
All children will be required to wear a mask, and the camp will be practicing guidelines in keeping with CDC recommendations. Students may not participate unless they are symptom free per CDC guidelines.
