A PRAYER FOR OCTOBER:
BY KATIE HIGGINS, ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT OF MISSION
God of Life and Creator of Love,

help us to remember who we are,

your beloved children called to live

in right relationship with all creation.

Attune our ears and turn our hearts

to the cry of the earth

and of our sisters and brothers.

Amen.

Magnificat Alumnae Board
The Magnificat High School Alumnae Board, a community of women dedicated to Magnificat’s Mission, works to foster the spirit of service, friendship, and caring among the graduates of the school; promote the appreciation of a faith-based education; support the school financially; and uphold the tradition and ideals of the school by assisting the students and faculty of Magnificat High School. The Board always welcomes new members who are willing to share their time and creativity to engage alumnae and friends of all ages. Please contact Maggie Lamb at [email protected] or 440.331.1572, ext. 268 for more information. We especially need women who graduated in the 60s and 70s!
Learn at Lunch Presenters Needed
Magnificat has a robust and engaging career speaker program for our students, which is fueled by our accomplished and inspiring alumnae! During the 2018-2019 academic year, we hosted 17 alumnae for the Learn at Lunch Series in addition to several alumnae who presented for different career-related events here at Magnificat. If you are passionate about your career and are interested in presenting to students who are interested in your field, please email Maggie Mroz Lamb ’84, Director of Constituent Relations, at [email protected]. We are currently setting the schedule of speakers for the 2019-2020 academic year, and while we will not be able to schedule every interested presenter, we hope you’ll add your name to the list!

ARCHIVES ANCTICS - OCTOBER 2019 - THESE ARE OUR SISTERS: PART I: THE FOUNDING OF A NEW RELIGIOUS ORDER AND THE JOURNEY TO AMERICA We cannot speak about Magnificat without also talking about the Sisters of the Humility of Mary who founded our school in 1955 and under whose sponsorship we continue to thrive. The rich faith and service traditions of these women inform and inspire us. But who exactly are the Sisters of the Humility of Mary? Our next three Archives Antics columns will delve into this question. Our exploration will begin with the history of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in France and their earliest days here in the United States. In subsequent columns, we will explore their contributions to healthcare and education, and then we will focus on the Sisters who transformed the lives of Magnificat students... Giving back to Magnificat through The Magnificat Fund is important for many reasons. These unrestricted dollars support every aspect of the Magnificat education. From providing financial aid to students and expanding our academic, athletic, co-curricular, and faith- based offerings, to enhancing our campus’ physical spaces, there is not an area of the student experience that does not rely on these funds.

This year, we’re launching a new way to support The Magnificat Fund: Giving Day . Giving Day is a Magnificat community-wide event that encourages students, alumnae, faculty, staff, parents, and friends to imagine more for Magnificat and the programs that are meaningful to them.

Magnificat’s inaugural Giving Day is February 20, 2020. More information will be provided as Giving Day approaches. In the meantime, please save the date, and be sure to help us spread the word! Use #MagsGivingDay and #SupportMags on social media.
