  Chargers Excel at Sectional Meet; Whitehead Victorious
 
The Arete Prep High School Cross Country team shined at the Division IV Section IV Meet at Crossroads Park on Friday. Senior Adam Whitehead led the charge by leading the boys race from start to finish en route to his third straight section title. The boys team went in seeded #1, but finished second just three points behind ALA-North Gilbert. Wes Lanniuer ran an outstanding race placing third, while Logan Hansen also medaled with a 14th place finish. By finishing second, the boys team earned their second straight team qualification for States. 

On the girls side, Daniela Iniguez (14th) and Sara Tollen (23rd) earned individual state qualification by placing in the top 25. 

  Volleyball Season Ends in 1A State Tournament

The #8 Chargers played a back and forth, very even match vs. #9 Anthem Prep, but came out on the wrong end of a five set thriller. Arete Prep won the first two sets, before Anthem Prep roared back and took the last three, with a 15-8 decisive 5th set.

  Zajdzinski Defends Two State Swimming Titles
AIA DIII State Meet Recap:

Arete Prep swimmers competed at the AIA DIII State Swim Finals at PCDS on Friday. Senior Amanda Zajdzinski capped her Charger career by defending her two state titles from 2018, in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. She also earned a return trip to the "Meet of Champions" on Saturday, at Skyline Aquatic Center. At that meet, which featured the top swimmers from all divisions, Mandy earned a 2nd place finish in the 500 Freestyle. 

Junior Luke Nicholas also qualified for the Meet of Champions, by placing 2nd in the 100 fly.

Sophomore Georgia Sterling capped a very successful season with a 4th place finish in the 100 fly. She was also a member of the 3rd place 400 relay, which included Zajdzinksi, Jana Steinborn, and Amariah Elefson.

Overall, the girls team finished 8th out of 30 DIII teams. Outstanding season Chargers and Coach Cook!

You may now visit East Valley Sports (6306 East Main Street, Mesa, 85205) to inquire about ordering an Arete Prep Varsity Jacket. We have redesigned the Varsity Letter that was distributed at Fall Sports Awards. IF YOU ARE ORDERING A JACKET, please contact Coach Conklin to receive the new letter. Please keep in mind that jackets take 7-8 weeks for production. We are very excited to see school pride represented in Varsity Jackets around campus! Jackets are dress code approved but may only be worn by the owner.

REGISTRATION FOR A SPORT


1. Complete the Athletic Online Enrollment. (Must be completed by a parent/guardian.) 

2. Every athlete must submit a physical on the approved AIA Physical Forms. Physicals are good for 12 months and must be resubmitted annually. 

3. Submit the athletic fee. All middle school sports (including archery) are $250. All high school sports are $290. Select Online Payment to pay by debit/credit card online, or you may submit cash, check, or money to the front office. 

4. (HS ONLY) If not previously completed, every high school athlete must complete the Brainbook Concussion Course. The AIA will notify Arete electronically once the student has successfully completed the course. High school athletes are required to complete this course only once during their high school career. 

All items must be completed and turned in before your student may participate in their sport.
