VERY SPECIAL GUESTS IN JULY
Tim Desmond a Student of Thich Nhat Hanh

Tim Desmond is an esteemed Buddhist scholar, psychotherapist, author, Distinguished Faculty Scholar at Antioch University New England, and student of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Co-founder of Morning Sun Mindfulness Center, he lives in Alstead, NH, and teaches mindfulness and self-compassion practices to professional and popular audiences around the world.

Do you struggle with stress or negativity? Cutting-edge research shows that self-compassion is not only a skill anyone can strengthen through practice but also one of the strongest predictors of mental health and wellness. Learn how mindfulness-based self-compassion practices can help you find greater health, peace, emotional stability, and joy.

Using techniques cultivated from his teacher, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, along with work in several distinct fields including neurobiology, cognitive neuroscience, psychotherapy outcome research, and positive psychology Tim integrates traditional Buddhist teachings and mindfulness with cutting-edge science to create effective ways to bridge the gap between the ancient tradition of mindfulness and modern life. Mindfulness isn't about separating ourselves from the problems in the world. Instead, it is about re-learning how to get out there, connect with the suffering of every living being and in doing so, embrace our own personal suffering, let go, and move on.

Enlightenment Guaranteed
Friday July 5th at 7pm

Two brothers want to get their screwed-up lives together by going to Japan for a retreat in a Zen monastery. En route, their midlife crisis turns into a midnight crisis when they get lost in Tokyo's neon jungle and can't find the way back to their hotel. It's down and out in Asia's brave new world. With no credit cards, directions, and with no Yen in their pockets, they wander through an alien environment where the simplest everyday thing becomes a major, if often comical, challenge. Soon both realize that they have to leave their ordinary lives behind and are on a voyage to themselves. Click here for movie Trailer!
Day of Silence Retreat

A half-day of meditation is an opportunity to explore the meditation practice in consecutive periods focusing, dwelling, contemplating and relaxing into silence. This time will be perfect for beginners and for those already established in their meditation practice.

Periods of seated meditation, walking meditation, temple cleaning and community tea will all be carried out in silence. You will enter the Temple in silence and you will leave in silence, creating the opportunity at the end to return your day in silence.
Singing Bowl Meditation
Sunday July 7th at 2pm

We welcome back Damien Rose for another beautiful Singing Bowl Meditation at the Dharma Bum Temple!
The sound of Tibetan singing bowls might be described as complex purity. Within the sound that is heard when the bowl is struck, there exists the “anahat nad,” the “unstruck sound” that can be a representation of the indwelling spirit – hidden, yet fully alive and beautiful. Damien Rose, a musician and healer, uses the sounds of the bowls to evoke communion with the eternal and lead listeners into a state of deep peace and relaxation that promotes healing and well-being.

DHARMA BUM TEMPLE DEBT

In April of 2017 we acquired this Dharma Bum Temple for a purchase price of $1,400,000 and we are beyond grateful to be here. Thank you to the 1,123 people back then who donated to make it happen!

The fundraising campaign in April of 2019 raised $50,000 and we made a payment to pay down our debt and we thank everyone who donated during the Spring fundraising campaign.

Our remaining debt on the property is now $592,685 which is amazing. We have an incredible interest rate for the next 2 years so we are going to do everything possible to pay off all debt on this property by April 15, 2021 which will be a huge blessing!

Since there are no fees to donate via Facebook, we will keep an ongoing campaign open if you want to make a donation at any time. These campaigns can stay open for 3 months at a time.

Please consider a donation of any amount to help us secure the financial stability of the Dharma Bum Temple. All donations are tax-deductible and deeply appreciated. There are no fees if you donate here via FB, however you can also donate via the Dharma Bum Temple website if you prefer or bring a check to the Temple.

Thank you for your continuous support!
