Diving in to build summer relationships

New secondary students and parents converged Tuesday for dinner and games, the first of the summer's new student events.

Academy student leaders and staff hosted the event, which was designed to help new students meet returning students and each other.

New parents took the opportunity to meet each other and to ask questions.

Other events for new and returning students are planned for July.

Capturing Texas-sized ideas
Lake Pointe leaders were in the classroom themselves, attending  two conferences in late June.
The group spent six days, first at the University Model School conference in Dallas, and then at the Society of Classical Learners conference in Austin.
Participating were Student Life Director Chris Miller, Elementary assistant principal Julie DeSa, Athletic Director Bill Spratley, Registrar Gina Brewer, and Head of School Louis Lemmon
In addition, the group toured the new campus of Veritas Academy, a classical University Model School that started at the same time as Lake Pointe.

Taking time out from the conference sessions, LPA leaders sought to challenge the Mariner golf team with some some mini-golf practice.
