1A. Elect Board President

Each year, at the Governing Board's Annual Organizational meeting, the Board of Trustees elects a President to serve as a Board representative for the upcoming year. The President provides leadership on behalf of the Board and the educational community as Board business is conducted. Duties include, presiding at all Board meetings, signing documents to carry out state requirements and will of the Board, consulting with the Superintendent on the preparation of Board meeting agendas, working with the Superintendent to ensure Board members have necessary materials and information, appointing and dissolving committees subject to Board approval, and calling special Board meetings deemed necessary. The Trustee elected to this office will serve as Board President from July 2019 through June 2020, until the next Board Annual Organizational Meeting. 

Michelle Rivas was elected Board President on July 2, 2019.
1B. Elect Board Vice President

Each year, at the Governing Board's Annual Organizational meeting, the Board of Trustees elects a Vice President to serve as Board representative for the upcoming year. When the President is absent, the Vice President performs the duties of the President. The Trustee elected to this office will serve as Vice President from July 2019 through June 2020, until the next Board Annual Organizational Meeting.

Michael Baker was elected Board Vice President on July 2, 2019.
1C. Elect Board Clerk

Each year, at the Governing Board's Annual Organizational meeting, the Board of Trustees elects a Board Clerk to serve as Board representative for the upcoming year.  The Trustee elected to this office will serve as Board Clerk from July 2019 through June 2020, until the next Board Annual Organizational Meeting. 

Basim Elkarra was elected Board Clerk on July 2, 2019.
2. Charts for: Administrative Services, Instructional Division and the Superintendent's Office

The primary goal of the revised organizational charts is to develop high quality learning environments for students throughout the district with better services to schools, departments and the community. Revisions to the district's organizational charts align with the Board's core beliefs.

3. Adopt - Board Policy 7112 and Exhibit Numbers (1) (2) (3) for the Student Housing Committee

On January 29, 2019, the Board of Trustees established the Student Housing Committee (SHC) and appointed to the SHC on February 26, 2019, to review the Board's policy on student housing issues, such as optimal school size, optimal school grade configurations, school consolidation, school boundaries, and staffing. The committee's first task was to review current information relative to grade level configuration of the District. The committee met five times and completed a ranking of preferences for the Board's consideration relative to: 

No change in school/grade configuration
K-5 | 6-8 | 9-12 grade configuration
K-6 | 7-8 | 9-12 grade configuration
K-8 | 9-12 grade configuration

Information the committee reviewed and actions taken by the committee are found on the Student Housing Committee Website.

On May 7, 2019, the Board reviewed the committee's materials and rankings/preferences to provide administration direction on a future Board Policy.

The Board of Trustees requested a community survey which was completed and presented to the Board of Trustees on June 11, 2019. The Board provided additional feedback on the SHC recommendation and the survey results.

A draft Board Policy was presented and discussed on June 25 and is presented for adoption to the Board.

4. Approved - Personnel Recommendations

The Board of Trustees approved all personnel recommendations including new hires, promotions, resignations and leaves.
