St. Michael's Academy
 :

We had a serious scare this week. A situation like that certainly makes you stop and take stock of what is really important in life!  The SMA community is grateful to God and all those who contributed to its   positive resolution. We will continue to teach our students good safety and security strategies through our Diocesan  curriculum.

Currently, we are in the thick of things getting ready for Catholic Schools Week. Our students are selling calendars, we are collecting items for the Gray House, writing letters to pastors, and creating gift baskets to raffle off at the Pasta Supper. And if that's enough, some of our students will be speaking at Masses this coming weekend to promote our Open House. It's a busy month at St. Michael's Academy!

I extend my thanks to all and we appreciate your support in helping us celebrate Catholic education and our mission. I hope to see you at the Pasta Supper on Feb.1st and look forward to some socializing!

Enjoy the long weekend.

Peace and God's blessings,

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Principal

 Perfect Attendance

Good Attendance Pays Off !

Congratulations to our perfect attendance dress-down winners! In order to qualify for the weekly drawing, a student must have no absences, tardiness or early dismissals the previous week of school. We select one from PreK - 2nd grade, one from 3rd - 5th grade and one from 6th - 8th grade.  Here are our recent winners:

Berry - Gr. KA                                         Jack - Gr. 3B

Ava - Gr. 6A

From the Classroom of Mrs. Dean - Gr. 2

Happy New Year from 2B!

We all had a wonderful Christmas break and are now back to the proverbial grindstone. With the marking period ending today, January 17th, we've been working extra hard on our academics.

Next we will be getting things ready for the celebration of Catholic Schools Week, our Curriculum Fair, and our Grandparent and Volunteer event "Warm Winter Wishes". It's always an exciting time for the students and their families.
Throughout the school year, the second graders have been learning about the virtue of integrity, doing what is right even when no one is watching. What a wonderful example of integrity we have in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and how he lived his life.

Many of our students have received the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation or will be receiving it soon. And the children are excited to be preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.

So you can see we have been busy beavers in grade 2!

 "Meal Viewer"

The Springfield Public Schools is introducing the "Meal Viewer" where you can now go to view the breakfast and lunch menus. A copy of the menus will no longer be going home with students (really this time) and will only be available through this site.

To access the menus, please go to schools.mealviewer.com or download the app on your mobile device.  You will be asked to create a login and input any allergies your child might have. Search Springfield and find St. Michael's Academy and you will then be directed to the menus.  You can bookmark the site to make it easier for future access.

The link will also be located on the St. Michael's Academy website under the student life section.  Once you log in, subsequent visits should take you right to the St. Michael's Academy menus.

Food For Thought

"If you want God to hear your prayers, hear the voice of the poor. If you wish God to anticipate your wants, provide those of the needy without waiting for them to ask you."
