Voices From Around the World: A Mental Health Art Exhibit

Mental Health Matters (MHM) is hosting a global-themed art exhibit to celebrate and acknowledge the vast intersectionalities in experiencing mental health across the globe. This will be a celebratory arts event where performers, poets, actors and just any student can share words or a prepared presentation representing important takeaways or noteworthy lived experiences regarding mental health from a culturally informed lens.

The Office of Global Activities (OGA) offers funding every other year to MSW and PhD students who
submit an abstract
and are
accepted to present
at either the Joint World Conference on Social Work Education and Social Development or the IFSW Global Social Work Conference. Students who apply to this grant are required to be enrolled students at SSW during the global conferences.

Global Independent Study Grant

Global Independent Study (GIS) is a student-initiated opportunity that allows MSW students to travel abroad during the Spring/Summer term to study a topic of their choosing while working with a faculty instructor. Students will receive elective credits for the global experience. Award amounts are up to $2,000.

OGA Passport Grant

The Office of Global Activities in the School of Social Work is offering a Passport Grant of $155 per person to incoming MSW students who have never held a passport before and are applying to the Global Independent Study Grant. The application is submitted via the GIS application.

Alumni Board of Governors (BOG) Practicum Award

|
The Alumni Board of Governors Award helps meet the growing needs of U-M MSW students who pursue national and global experiences. Applicant must be admitted into a SSW approved national or global field placement site or a global independent study project for which they are seeking support.

International Institute Individual Fellowship

The International Institute Individual Fellowships are designed to support University of Michigan students, regardless of citizenship, who are enrolled in a degree program and wish to participate in internships or conduct research abroad. To be eligible for this award students must spend at least 1 month abroad, with a 30-hour-per-week time commitment. Award amounts are up to $5,000.

FLAS) Fellowship

This fellowship is offered by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies for students to learn
Nahuatl, Portuguese, Quechua, or Yoruba
languages during the summer of 2020 or the 2020-2021 Academic Year (or both!).
FLAS fellowships offer tuition support and a stipend to students studying these designated foreign languages in combination with area studies or international aspects of professional studies
