Imagine. Discover. Connect.
Read About Renovation
In May 2018, taxpayers passed a 1.9-mill operating levy and some of those funds will be used to renovate the library into a building that will allow easier access for the entire community with flexible spaces for reading, research, and computing.

The Library Board selected Bialosky Cleveland as the architect for the Main Library renovation project. Over the course of their history, Bialosky Cleveland has designed diverse projects throughout the city. Most recently they worked closely with the City of Shaker Heights on the master planning and design for the new Van Aken District. The Library worked with Bialosky Cleveland in 1991, to expand its Bertram Woods Branch to include a children’s wing and a basement.
Change to Library Meeting Room Reservation Procedures
The upcoming renovation of Shaker Library will transform your library for the twenty-first century. During the renovation project, access to some spaces may sometimes be limited. We are working to ensure that any meeting room you reserve will be available when you need it. Therefore, beginning July 1, meeting room reservations may be made no more than three months in advance, instead of up to six months in advance. Thank you for your understanding during this exciting time. Get Meeting Room Information here .
