2019 Per Capita

At the 223 General Assembly, a proposal passed to increased the GA portion of per capita to $8.95 (increase of $1.22) for 2019 with no additional increase in the 2020 GA per capita portion.

Eastminster's Administrative Ministry Committee (AMC) made recommendation at the September Presbytery meeting to NOT increase our per capita. Rather, Eastminster will decrease their portion of per capita absorbing the GA increase for 2019.

2019 Per Capita breakdown:
$ 8.95 General Assembly
$ 3.25 Synod of the Covenant
$19.80 Eastminster Presbytery
$32.00

*Each congregation's commitment for the 2019 per capita is based on their 2017 annual statistical ending membership reporting. A 2019 Commitment Statement will be emailed to each of our Treasurers mid October.
Ohio congregation's "Big Backyard" welcomes Guatemalan neighbors

Members of First Presbyterian Church in Salem, Ohio, began asking the question, Why would families leave Guatemala to work in a meat-packing plant in Ohio? They soon learned the answer to that question as they met Guatemalan neighbors participating in games and other activities that the church sponsored "Big Backyard" on Wednesday evenings. Continue reading the article Journey of Hope featured in PCUSA News and learn how First Church, Salem is reaching out to their community. Peace & Global Witness Offering
Sept 1 - Oct 7

The Peace & Global Witness Offering draws Presbyterians together, and provides education and exposure to those who show us how to do peacemaking well. It allows us to create resources for dealing with conflict and provide nurturing reconciliation, and stand in support of our global sisters and brothers, because the peace of Christ belongs to people everywhere.
A gift to the Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice across the world. Individual congregations are encouraged to utilize up to 25% of this Offering to connect with the global witness of Christ's peace. Eastminster retains 25% that is submitted for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is sent to and used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness. Changes to Book of Order

The 223rd General Assembly (2018) approved and recommended to the presbyteries for their affirmative or negative votes proposed changes in the language of the Book of Order that, if approved, will amend the Constitution. Presbyteries are required to report their votes by June 23, 2019. However, in order to make the changes and publish the 2019–2021 Book of Order in a timely manner, receipt of votes prior to this deadline would be appreciated (by May 10, 2019, if possible).
