Neighborhood Leader Meet & Greet
Join us for the second quarter Neighborhood Leader Meet & Greet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

You will hear City updates, network with neighborhood leaders from across Garland and learn of possible opportunities for your neighborhood.

The event is free. Dinner is provided, so please RSVP so we can plan accordingly. See you there!
Senior Health Fair Wednesday, June 26
Seniors ages 55 and older are invited to attend a  free health and information fair from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Garland Senior Activity Center,
600 W. Avenue A.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and talk with vendors from a variety of senior service agencies, including senior living options, insurance agencies, pre-planning services and health screenings. There will be giveaways, door prizes, free health screenings and more.

Summer Concert Series Continues Friday, June 28
Bring the entire family and spend summer evenings under the beautiful Texas stars in the historic Downtown Garland Square!
 
Every other Friday night through July 12, enjoy live music beginning at 7 p.m. and fireworks to end the event at approximately 9:15 p.m. Bring blankets, chairs, water/soda, snacks, bug spray and sunblock. Also bring some cash for the vendors! The event is free.

Landmark Museum Apollo 11 Exhibit
Did you know thousands of scientists, engineers, production workers and other employees of Garland-area industries contributed to the historic Apollo 11 mission almost 50 years ago?

Visit the Garland Landmark Museum to learn about products and systems supplied by government contracting firms in Garland to support the Apollo 11 mission, as well as Garland's involvement in the space industry today. 

The exhibit is free and open to the public through Aug. 24. The Landmark Museum is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, except holiday weekends. Learn more.
Party in the Park Thursday, July 4
Start your Fourth of July celebration with fun and games for the whole family! 

Enjoy live music, a climbing wall, a pie-eating contest, bounce houses, a cornhole tournament and more from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Audubon Park, 342 W. Oates Road.

Star-Spangled Spectacular Thursday, July 4
Firewheel Town Center , in partnership with the City of Garland, will proudly celebrate our nation's independence with an afternoon and evening full of free family fun, music and fireworks starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 4. 

At 9:15 p.m. spectacular, show-stopping fireworks will light up the sky, choreographed to an exciting arrangement of patriotic songs.

Plan Commission
June 24
The Garland Plan Commission meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St. View agendas here, and be sure to click the "subscribe" button to receive notifications when meeting agendas are posted.

Apply Now for Boards and Commissions
Residents who serve on Garland's 11 boards and commissions can make a difference in the City and be directly involved with local government. They serve in an advisory or quasi-judicial capacity, providing information directly to the Garland City Council. From planning and development to multicultural events, boards and commission members advise on a range of City services. The City will accept applications for its boards and commissions through July 1. Application forms can be found on the City Secretary's page at G arlandTX.govSubmit applications to Ren é  Dowl, City Secretary, by email to  RDowl@GarlandTX.gov  or by U.S. Postal Service to City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St., Garland 75040.

Road Closures Around Garland
Garland Road at Shiloh Road will be under construction from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Monday. A minimum of one lane of Garland Road will remain open in each direction during these times. These weekend closures will occur through July 8, weather permitting.  Monday, June 10, Holford Road bridge was closed completely for bridge work for approximately four weeks, weather permitting.  Learn more .
