This Sunday
One of our former pastors,
Rev. Sara Ilderton , is with us to bring a word of thanks from the North Carolina Synod. As an Assistant to the Bishop, Pastor Sara provides leadership for Candidacy and Boundaries. Nativity has been strong supporter of the candidacy process in that we have gifted the greater church with fifteen of our “sons and daughters” to serve as ELCA Pastors. We have also contributed to the formation of future church leaders by serving as an internship site five times. Thus, the word of thanks and a special visit from one our previous pastors (2002-2010).
Also...
Endowment Committee and Stewardship for All Seasons member, Fred Park , will address the congregation and let us know just what IS up with Nativity's Endowment Fund. Want a sneak peek? Click here .
Last Sunday, a Congregational Forum was led by our Council President, Sarah Asbill , to share information regarding plans for an interim pastor at Nativity and the starting of a call process for a new Senior Pastor. Attendees heard about the progress thus far, had questions answered and were given the opportunity to share their thoughts.

+ opportunity to share your gifts this summer!

It's summer once again, and the musical ensembles are on their annual break. This means there are ample opportunities for you to offer your musical gifts for anthems on Sunday mornings!

If you are interested in singing a solo, or joining your voice in a duet, or playing an instrument, or offering a liturgical dance, or just about ANY artistic expression of your faith during the offerings this summer, please click here or sign-up on the board outside the choir room. Pastor Gregg and Gary Mitchell will contact you and explore possibilities. If you would rather discuss your ideas with Pr. Gregg first, let him know by clicking  here  .

"Cleanliness may not actually be next to godliness, but it certainly helps a person feel more human" , states Lutheran World Relief in the Quilt and Ministry Guide. "When families find their homes destroyed, or must flee for their safety, soap and a towel rarely make the cut for what they can carry. Arriving in a refugee camp or other place of safety, they are scared, vulnerable and dirty from the travel. The simple items included in a Personal Care Kit provide much-needed self-care, critical germ fighting, and the chance to regain dignity amidst situations of fear and uncertainty."

Personal Care Kits update: To date we have received 56 towels, 103 bars of soap, 108 toothbrushes (thanks to a generous donation of 100 toothbrushes!), 24 sturdy combs, and 24 nail clippers.  The item to gather for July and August is light-weight bath-size towels (20"x40" to 52"x27") dark color recommended.  It would be wonderful if we could send 100 or more kits to Lutheran World Relief this fall. Any item contained in the kit may be brought in at any time and placed in the smaller wicker basket under the women's bulletin board located in the hallway to your right as you exit the worship space. Other items included in a kit are bath-size bars of soap (two to three bars per kit), metal nail clippers, and a sturdy comb. Monetary contributions may be made to Nativity and marked for LWR Kits and placed in the offering plates. Thank you for your generosity in helping our brothers and sisters throughout the world.

Is someone in your family attending camp at Lutheridge or Lutherock this summer?
If so, please let us know who and when so that we may hold campers in our prayers during worship this summer. Scholarships to camp are available through Nativity. Please contact Pastor Rachel .
Calvary Food Pantry welcomes your participation in feeding our neighbors. Nativity's joyful crew helps clients the first and second Saturday mornings of the month with check in, shopping assistance, and carrying out groceries. Thank you for gifts of food and hygiene products in the cart and gifts of treasure through the offering. If you know someone in need, help spread the word: CFP is open every Saturday 8:30 - 11 a.m. In addition to staples, eggs, produce, milk, baked goods, meat, and bread are available. Love and compassion abound. If you'd like to be part of this ministry, sign up at the Welcome Desk or click here . Questions? Contact Heather Neal (658-9309 or neal.heather@rocketmail.com) or Pr.
