Academy Giving: Floresco

The Floresco Committee is looking for creative artwork! The 2020 invitation will be designed by a GHI student. One design will be chosen, and all other entries will be displayed at Floresco. See here for the entry requirements and other Academy Giving news.

Campus Update for 2020-2021

Mr. David Denton, Executive Director for Great Hearts North Texas, will be hosting two Town Hall Meetings next week to discuss the current fifth grade class moving into the Upper School for sixth grade next school year. Click here to view his announcement and further details. 

The Town Halls are scheduled for Wednesday, November 6 from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and Thursday, November 7 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Both events will be held at the Upper School, and sign up is strongly encouraged. 

Lower School Announcements

Picture Retakes

On November 1, Lifetouch will be on campus for any picture retakes. Students who were absent on September 10, students new to the school since September 10, or anyone not 100 percent satisfied with a purchased package is welcome to have their picture retaken.

Singapore/Spalding Night: The Sequel

We will host a second Singapore/Spalding Night for adults only on November 14. Parents of K-2 students should attend from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Parents of 3-5 students should attend from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Please enter at the east (Green Carline) door and gather in the Forum.

Faculty vs. Parent Cricket Match

Our faculty team has been practicing diligently to put up as brave a fight as they can against our eager, cricket-loving parent team. Join us at Cimarron Park on Saturday, November 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to cheer on both teams as they compete for glory on the cricket pitch.

Window into Wonder Tours

Lower School families are invited to join the Headmaster for one of many Window into Wonder Tours, where we will spend time exploring the rich instruction your children experience every day. Click here to register.

Coffee with the Headmaster

Third grade parents are invited to our Coffee with the Lower School Headmaster on November 18 from 8:00-8:45 a.m. Please sign in at the front desk.

Club Pick-up

Students should be picked up from clubs at the east (Green Carline) entrance. Please park and walk up to the east steps to pick up your student. Please remember to bring your visor and drive with caution. There are no traffic directors on duty at this time.

Prairie Lights

On Saturday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m., a team of Great Hearts faculty will be participating in Prairie Lights, a three mile walk/run. You are invited to form your own team and participate alongside our faculty or come and cheer them on. Click here for more information.

Upper School Announcements

College Counselor News: PSAT

As a reminder, the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) will be given at the Great Hearts Irving Upper School tomorrow, October 30. See here for more information.

Athletics: Basketball Tryouts

Basketball tryouts will be held on Wednesday, October 30 from 4:15-5:45 p.m. at Drive Nation. Tryouts are for grades 6-11, both boys and girls. Parents with playing or coaching backgrounds are also requested to attend or contact GHI Director of Athletics Gary Gray at [email protected].

Picture Retakes

Upper School picture retakes will take place on Thursday, October 31. If your student missed picture day or would like a retake, please have them pick up a form at the front desk. The form goes directly to LifeTouch during pictures on 10/31. 

Food Drive

House Belisarius is partnering with Irving Cares to host a school-wide Food Drive. All Upper School students are invited to participate 11/6-11/20. Keep an eye out for future House-sponsored, school-wide charity opportunities!
