MCS
Heroes of the Week

Victoria Boler

Congratulations to this week's Heroes Andrew and Victoria. We hope you enjoy your up-close parking spot.

A Note to Andrew Rahm, Digital Learning Coach:
Who better to deserve such an honor and such a parking spot than our very own Andrew Rahm! I mean come on...he could be teaching a class while scaning our tests into AMP while helping a student "fix" their uncharged iPad and drop everything to help you figure out that your monitor isn't plugged in. It is incredible how we are able to bounce an idea off of him and then he comes back a short while later with several new tech options and apps that may suit our needs. Despite the constant fires he constantly has to put out, he is always smiling and enthusiastic, always asking how he can help, and always takes a deep interest with what is going on in his colleagues' and students' lives. How he keeps his heart in such a good place when the problems he faces each deay are so unpredictable is beyond me. So give it up for our incredible colleague, awesome teacher, and solid friend...Andrew Rahm!

Victoria Boler, General Music Teacher:
Victoria is our elementary super hero for next week! We all know how talented she is, even when it rains, she finds ways to make beautiful music happen ( watch the video). Victoria, thank you for your flexibility as you patiently wait for your new class to be completed. We appreciate everything you do here at MCS and we love your creative ways and gifts from God. You are a hero!

It is a joy to watch the positivity and enthusiasm that you share with your students. I've been watching as you teach and I see that you challenge and correct with a Christ-like love that reveals a heart for the Lord and HIS children. Love Kristin K.

Middle School Chapel - U-Groups
Chapel this week for middle schoolers had 2 exciting components. To start, ASB students shared what our Outreach Focus for this school year is, and how all middle school students can get involved to be Difference Makers in our community. Their first opportunity was Share2Wear, and the students responded extremely well! Next up is our visit to the Shalimar community where we will connect with our neighbors across Costa Mesa, and share the love and joy of Jesus with them! (Please see the Shalimar details in below)

In the second half of Chapel, our U-Group Launch took place where all middle school students met the people in their U-Groups and spent some time getting to know each other. They also were given a series of "selfies" to take as a group for their first U-group competition! The 8th grade leaders did a great job facilitating the activities and welcoming their group members. Congratulations to U-Group #7 for winning our first competition of the year! Please enjoy these U-Group photos, along with Group #7's winning photo!

Wear2Share "Too School for Cool" Dress Day
We want to say a HUGE thank you to every middle school student and staff member who participated in our first Share2Wear of the year! We had an incredible turnout in participation, yielding an overwhelming amount of band aids and $ to go towards band aids! What a blessing to homeless people in our community who will receive blessing bags later this year, which include these band aids.  Middle school students and staff certainly embraced their most "studious" sides on Wednesday, as those who "shared" got to "wear" TOO SCHOOL FOR COOL! attire.  Please enjoy some photos from our Share2Wear!
Middle School Policies & Expectations Implemented October 1st
In middle school, the month of September has served as an opportunity to teach and train students regarding all policies and expectations. Part of this training has focused on uniform guidelines and dress code expectations. All expectations have been clearly communicated to both parents and students and students have been given the opportunity and time to make sure they have the proper school attire. As we begin the second month of school, we want to clearly communicate that the expectation is that students will apply this training into practice as they adhere to all uniform and dress code guidelines.

It is also important to communicate that, beginning Monday, October 1st, dress guidelines will be fully implemented and enforced. Accountability to all guidelines will be provided to any middle school student who does not meet MCS uniform guidelines.

If you have any questions about uniform or dress code guidelines or how these policies are implemented, follow this link to the MS Uniform Guidelines page, view our MS Uniform Reminders here, or contact Mrs. Niles at [email protected].

It's go time - make sure you are meeting these expectations for the school year!
