The J will be using a phased approach to our re-opening. More programs and services will be made available with each subsequent phase. We will be implementing new practices and procedures in adherence with state and national guidelines for COVID-19. Please remember all dates and programs are tentative and subject to change.

Membership Status for June
Although we are beginning to re-open the JCC in phases, we will not be charging a membership fee until July 1st, 2020.

PHASE 1: Starts June 1
The following programs will begin as part of Phase 1. Only those registered for the programs below will be allowed. No other individuals (outside of our staff) will be allowed into the building during this time.

Summer Camp - Starting June 1
J Camp, or summer day camp programming, will begin on Monday, June 1st. Children MUST be registered to attend. Registration can be completed through our website. Additional information will be sent via email to all those registered for a summer camp program.

Pennie Z. Davis Child Development Center - June 1
Programming at the Pennie Z. Davis Child Development Center will resume on Monday, June 1st. Children MUST be enrolled to attend. Parents, please watch your email for details regarding the new practice and procedure protocols we will be implementing.

Private Personal Training & Pilates - By Appointment ONLY - June 1
During Phase I private personal training sessions, private Pilates sessions and small group training sessions will be available by appointment ONLY . Sessions need to be purchased prior to your appointment. Call (402) 334-6419 or email jberkey@jccomaha.org to purchase. When arriving for your appointment, your trainer will greet you outside of the Member Service Entrance. You will then complete a mandatory waiver, have your temperature taken, and answer a series of questions as a general health screening. Do not enter the building until your trainer meets you.

PHASE 2: Starts June 8
During Phase 2 of our reopening the Fitness Center will be open to members age 16 and older by reservation only. We will operate at limited capacity and have limited hours. Services and access to certain areas will be also reduced. Full details will be posted on our website.

Limited Access to Phil Sokolof Fitness Center - June 8
Locker rooms will be closed, so please come ready to work out. The ONLY access point to the Fitness Center at this time will be through the Member Services Entrance. Please do not attempt to access the building using the west building entrances . More information on our Fitness Center reservation and check in system will be coming soon.

PHASE 3: Dates TBA
Phase 3 include the Aquatic facilities. We will be following the formal guidelines from state and local officials in regards to the functioning of swimming pools. We are working hard to get the pools ready for you and developing the safest policies and procedures regarding social distancing in aquatic facilities.

PHASE 4: Dates TBA
Phase 4 will include the Basketball Gymnasium & Group Exercise Classes
Summer camp will be held June 1 - August 7. Unless stated otherwise, all camps are open to Members and Non Members! All camp programs will be held on our campus.

This summer our main goal is to balance fun and safety . We have put new and enhanced policies and procedures into place. These plans adhere to the formal protocol set forth by the Center for Disease Control, American Camp Association, and state / local officials. As with everything, these plans are tentative and subject to change based on developments and updates. In order to properly staff and plan for all of our JCC Summer Camp Programming, we will be closing camp registration for the upcoming weeks at 4:00 p.m.on the Friday before the camp is scheduled to begin.

New Camp Safety Measures at a Glance
  • Smaller & consistent groupings of campers
  • Supplies and snacks will be per group and will not be shared.
  • Thorough cleaning of supplies & tables will be done before and after each activity.
  • Social distancing guidelines followed, even when outside.
  • Health & temperature checks at morning check-in and at lunch.
  • Staff will wear masks when working closely with children.
  • All food served will be prepacked.
  • Camp activities (Shabbat, Color Wars, etc) will have a new, social distant format.
  • Special events (talent show, dance & musical theater performances, sport camp award ceremonies) will be closed to the public. They will be broadcast or recorded.

Summer Dance Classes Begin June 15th
Summer Semester: June 15 - July 23
Limited dance classes will be offered this summer at the JCC and via Zoom! All in person classes will follow proper social distancing and will be limited to 8 students per class. Join the JCC Camps of North America on Wednesday, June 3 for the final broadcast of the Flagpole Series. These virtual gatherings are broadcast on Facebook LIVE and focus on solidarity through song and are hosted by renowned Jewish musician, Rick Recht! Broadcasts feature inspiring news from JCC Camp leaders, directors, counselors, campers and alumni. Facebook Live Classes for May 31 - June 6

Select programs and classes are broadcast on Facebook Live ! To watch a live broadcast, simply log into Facebook and visit the JCC Omaha Fitness Group on Facebook prior to the start of the class.
Group Exercise classes will reoccur each week. All class times are subject to change
JCC Members can now purchase and participate in Virtual Personal Training. All sessions will be 30 minutes long and will utilize body weight movements or basic items that you have in your house. No special equipment is needed. Sessions are a great way to connect and prioritize your fitness.

Once purchased and scheduled, training appointments will be completed via video call with a JCC Personal Trainer.
