Clients Show that Sharing is Caring

It was a typical Wednesday at CAC.  The day started slow, probably because it was very cold.  But suddenly, at 11 am, the front door opened and twelve people walked in simply saying, "We're in a recovery program and we were sent here because we were told that you can help us with food and clothing."

CAC does give food and clothing to individuals in recovery programs in our service area with ID and a letter of residency from the program. When the last two gentlemen approached the reception desk, one had his letter of residency but the other did not.  Before our volunteer had a chance to say anything, the client who had his letter simply said, "If I get food, then we get food together. I will share."

The good news is that we were able to get the documentation needed so both got food and clothing vouchers.  But what really resonated with us was that a gentleman who had nothing was willing to share what little he had with his friend who also had nothing. One doesn't have to have a lot to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.
