Support Culver City Education Foundation Today – It's For the Kids!
When you give to the Culver City Education Foundation, you support an array of enrichment opportunities throughout our school district that are not possible without private support. These include in-class and extracurricular programs and resources in visual and performing arts, technology, mathematics, literacy, and more.

CCEF was created in 1981 by a group of parents concerned about funding challenges in Culver City schools. Over the past 34 years, CCEF – thanks to the support of parents, local businesses, and other community members – has raised millions of dollars to support students, teachers, and schools in the Culver City Unified School District, helping to sustain the quality public schools that are a hallmark of Culver City.

Your financial support helps students build bright and successful futures while attending Culver City public schools, from pre-kindergarten through high school. Help CCEF continue to provide the resources our schools need to thrive – make your gift today!

CCUSD Teacher of the Year Recognized
at County Awards Banquet
Congratulations to Debby Ishii, a fouth-grade teacher at La Ballona Elementary School, who was recognized as CCUSD's Sony Pictures Entertainment Teacher of the Year at today's Los Angeles County Office of Education Awards Banquet at the Hilton Universal hotel.

Ishii was originally recognized in an award ceremony at La Ballona, where Sony presented her with a $2,500 check to further her inspiring work in the classroom in recognition of the company's 20th anniversary of sponsorship of CCCUSD schools.

"I knew from a young age that I was meant to be a teacher," said the 36-year teaching veteran. "It’s in my heart, it’s in my blood, it’s what I was meant to do."

Her students agree.

"I still maintain the love of learning that Mrs. Ishii has instilled in me, and I know that I can always count on her for support," a former student said.

Pictured at the Los Angeles County event are, from left Superintendent Leslie Lockhart; Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services Tracy Pumilia; Teacher of the Year Debby Ishii; Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources Jennifer Slabbinck; and Assistant Superintendent, Business Services Robert Quinn.
Walk 'n Rollers Invited to Celebrate "Walktober" With City Council
The City of Culver City is proclaiming October as "Walktober" to inspire everyone to walk more and drive less. Will you join the Culver City Walk 'n Rollers in Council Chambers on Monday, September 24 to help accept the proclamation? It's a fun way for your kids to interact with the City Council. All the festivities begin at 7 p.m. at Culver City Hall, 9770 Culver Boulevard.
Backpacks for Kids Seeks Families to Help
In conjunction with CCUSD and Council PTA, "Backpacks for Kids" runs a weekly backpack program to ensure that every child can eat on the weekends. Each week, plain backpacks are filled with non-perishable food and snacks for needy children to take home anonymously over the weekend.

There is no cost to participate and enrollment is 100% confidential. If you would like your child to receive a backpack, please leave this form with the School Secretary in the front office of your school.
Students Eligible for K-12 TAP Cards
For just $0.75 a ride for K-12 students, it's a no-brainer to get your student a Transit Access Pass (TAP) card and have it filled with a few bucks at all times.

Not only convenient, riding the bus is safe, cuts down on traffic and is an alternative to walking alone, particularly late at night or in the early morning.

To complete student applications for a TAP card, please visit http://media.metro.net/riding_metro/riders_guide/images/tap_k12_application.pdf

Completed applications can be dropped off in the Culver CityBus office at 4343 Duquesne Avenue (at Jefferson Boulevard).
