Come get hands-on, practical experience in the recording studio and learn the basics of Avid's Pro Tools.

Dalcroze for Seniors: Creative Aging

Connect with music and enjoy gentle movement and rhythmic exercise in this class designed especially for older adults and seniors.

Join us for our fourth annual singing competition for WCMS voice students! First prize winners in both the Senior Division (ages 14-18) and Junior Division (ages 10-13) will receive a 90-minute recording session, an additional 30 minutes of editing/mixing time, and a cash prize! The public is invited to watch the finalists perform for our judges (a panel of professional musicians) on Saturday, April 27. $10 general admission tickets will go on sale following the preliminary round on April 6. CONCERT FOR KIDS! "BABAR THE ELEPHANT & THE THREE LITTLE PIGS"

Come experience a delightful performance of two beloved children's stories, The Three Little Pigs and Babar the Elephant. Members of the WCMS faculty will present a musical rendition of The Three Little Pigs for woodwind quintet, with a narrator telling the tale of brave pigs and a huffing wolf. The program will also feature a performance of Francis Poulenc's whimsical piano accompaniment for Babar the Elephant, with narration that brings Babar to life! Appropriate for ages 4 and up. $5 general admission. Advance purchase is recommended - tickets are often sold out by the day of the show. 

 
"THE DECIBEL DIARIES" WITH AUTHOR CARTER ALAN
Friday, March 22, 7:00 PM
WCMS is collaborating with the Friends of the Winchester Public Library to present an evening with Carter Alan, longtime DJ and music director at WZLX in Boston and author of "Decibel Diaries: A Journey through Rock in 50 Concerts." Following Alan's talk, WCMS students will perform an acoustic set featuring music by the bands and artists highlighted in the book, including Neil Young, U2, George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana. Free admission. A book signing will follow, and copies of the book will be available for sale. 
 
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Winchester Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
DALCROZE WORKSHOP (FOR ADULTS)

3:30-5:00 PM
Our Dalcroze workshops for adults are ideal for musicians, dancers, actors, music therapists  - anyone who would like an introduction to Dalcroze Eurhythmics or to refresh their skills and knowledge. Both beginners and those with previous experience are welcome. The Dalcroze approach to musical understanding is a powerful and holistic way of knowing music throughout the body. The workshop will introduce the primary elements of Dalcroze education: eurhythmics, solfege, and improvisation. Learn more and register online

WELCOME TO NEW STAFF
Melissa joins WCMS as a front office evening and weekend staff member. She is currently working on her Masters in Psychology at William James College. She served as an inclusion specialist at YMCA Camp Eastman and interned at How-Manning Elementary School. Melissa looks forward to getting to know our WCMS students.
Jack is our new staff accountant in the business office. He has served as a controller, accountant, and human resource manager in the Boston area as well as in Texas. He enjoys being an accountant but also has a love of music. An avid concert goer, he looks forward to his new role at WCMS and being surrounded by music.
Melanie joins the front office team as an evening/weekend staff member. Her career has included inventory control and supply chain procurement and she is now enjoying working in the Andover Public Schools. Melanie is an avocational pianist and enjoys playing for her church community.

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming! Please help show our teachers how much we all appreciate the amazing work they do!

1) Sign up to contribute a food item for teachers to enjoy at the school during the week (or make a monetary donation for food & supplies - gift cards for Stop & Shop or Whole Foods would be great too!).
