Culminating in a keynote address by Governor Newsom’s Judicial Appointments Secretary, the
Honorable Martin J. Jenkins (ret.)
, Public Law Center’s 2019 Volunteers for Justice Dinner honored the
University of California, Irvine School of Law
(represented by Associate Dean Carrie Hempel),
Latham & Watkins LLP
(represented by Partner Michele Johnson), and
Sean M. Sherlock
of Snell & Wilmer LLP.
Proceeds from the evening will allow
PLC to deliver over $6 million in additional life-changing civil legal aid
to Orange County low-income residents. One of the most successful ever, the
event raised $752,000
to support PLC’s mission; and, thanks to our leve
raging
of resources through pro bono volunteers,
we will provide $8 of free legal services for every $1 we raised
. On behalf of PLC Board President Mark Erickson and the entire Board of Directors, I thank all of our attendees and supporters for changing lives for the better throughout Orange County.
With love and gratitude,
Ken Babcock
P.S. We will feature one of our honorees and dinner videos each coming month, so please enjoy the one below featuring PLC's U Visa work on behalf of victims of crime and Law Firm of the Year Latham & Watkins.
