PISC Offers Award to Attend Practical Methods Workshop!

Dr Amy Clippinger, Director, PISC, and Erin Hill, President, IIVS, with Brett Winters, winner of the Consortium award
|
|
Young scientists have an opportunity to
apply for an award to attend the IIVS 2019 Practical Methods for
In Vitro Toxicology Workshop. The award aims to provide an early-career scientist the opportunity to gain a better understanding of
in vitro methods, assay design, laboratory techniques, and data interpretation.
From the 2018 award winner, Brett Winters, a toxicology doctoral student from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: "The IIVS workshop was an amazing chance to learn about novel methods and assays that are advancing the ability to screen chemicals for various endpoints while simultaneously reducing the number of animals sacrificed for toxicity testing. I am immensely grateful to the PETA International Science Consortium for giving me the opportunity to attend such a valuable workshop through their Early Career Scientist Award.”

ASCCT 7th Annual Meeting: September 11, 2018
|
|
|
|
The program will include expert plenary lectures:
- Building Biological Bridges: Facilitating the Predictive Toxicology Paradigm by Brian Berridge, Assoc. Director, National Toxicology Program
- Predictive Toxicology for Regulatory Decisions: Implementing New Approaches at FDA by Suzanne Fitzpatrick, Food and Drug Administration
- Microphysiological Systems - the Opportunities and the Challenges by Stefan Platz, Vice President of Drug Safety and Metabolism, AstraZeneca
- Maximizing the Impact of Tissue Chip Technologies with In Vitro / In Vivo Translation by Murat Cirit, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Additional topics covered will include medical devices, tobacco assessment and online toxicology resources.
The meeting will also consist of a panel discussion on public-private partnerships, poster and oral presentations, a mentoring activity and awards for young scientists.
We hope you will join us for the seventh annual meeting of the ASCCT. While many invited talks this year focus on FDA-regulated products, abstracts covering all aspects of cellular and computational toxicology, including policy, are welcome and invited.
The deadline to be considered for an oral presentation is June 29th. Abstracts for poster presentations will be accepted until the meeting, space permitting.
