I am most pleased to share with our school community that we enjoyed a very successful opening to the 2018-2019 school year. Herein you will find several pictures which captured out students' enthusiasm on their first day back. Please note in this issue several important events including the Parent Information Sessions on Tuesday (3 times to pick from on August 21st) and other news related to the start of extracurricular activities across the campus.

Three Parent Information Sessions to choose from this next Tuesday . . .
Calling all CCHS parents and guardians! We will be hosting three Parent Info. Sessions this coming Tuesday, August 21st, 2018 in the PAC. We will be holding sessions at 8:00 AM, 1:30 PM, and 6:00 PM.
Sessions will last only around 30 minutes. These sessions will cover Canvas, Parent Access, Khan Academy, Remind, plus more! We hope to see you there!

Robotics
Sophomore
Jonathan Miranda has been doing some amazing things. Last year he and
Ibrahim Khater decided that they would figure out a way to make a "working prosthetic/bionic arm" They set out to make it so that anyone with access to hobby supplies and a 3D printer could make their own.
Jonathan came back to school this August with a working robotic hand (below). He tapes the sensors to his hand, they send movement data to a microchip that then sends a radio signal to an different microchip that then controls some servos to move the hand, which was made mostly from parts he had around the house.
This year we are also experimenting with EKG/EEG sensors.

 Napolean wrote that the reason why he beat the Austrians was that they did not know the value of five minutes. It took Lincoln less than five minutes to deliver his immortal Gettysburg Address. It took William Jennings Bryan less than five minutes to electrify a great political convention with but a single expression that gave him the nomination for presidency of the United States.
The lesson for our Bears? This school year invest your time wisely. Set personal goals. And remember . . . a year from now you may wish you had started today.
