From the Office

Label, label, label those jackets, sweaters, lunch boxes and water bottles so that they can be identified if lost.

Medications:  If your child requires medication to be kept in the office, please see Mrs. Kaye to obtain an Administration of Prescribed Medication for Pupil form.  Per district requirements, this form needs to be completed, signed by a physician and returned to the school before any medications (including over the counter) can be administered.

Absences:  We ask that any student who will be absent or late from school to please call the office (943-2462) and provide the reason for the absence. Thank you.

Reminder: PE is every Thusday, including TOMORROW.  Make sure your child wears tennis shoes or something appropriate for working out!

After School Enrichment

ASE is back this Fall with some exciting new classes and many of our familiar favorites!  We have a diverse selection of classes that should appeal to everyone, including Sprouts Cooking, Standing Ovations, Critters N' Clay, Code FU, STEM Fundamentals with LEGOS, Toyology, Chorus, Chess, Gymnastics, Hip Hop, and Public Speaking, just to name a few! We also have a great option to get some Before School Enrichment on our late start Wednesdays.  Your child can learn Spanish, or have fun with our Inventing and Improvising class from 7:50-8:50am.

To streamline our booking, we are excited to announce that we have adopted a new system called Homeroom that will allow us to sign up and track enrichment classes all in one place. Click here to check out our complete list of courses, schedule and go directly to our ASE Registration:

Thank you to this year's ASE cooridinators, Gillian Vivaston and Jamielle Kim for taking on this all important job!  Please email them at  [email protected]  if you have any questions.

Please remember that ALL ASE courses need a waiver.  The waiver can be  downloaded here .

Registration closes on September 12th, so register now!!
Walking Club Volunteers Needed

Walking Club, our students most beloved recess activity, is looking for volunteers to mark cards as the students walk laps around the track. The students can earn rewards as they meet some milestones.   This program started 12 years ago and it is one of the children's favorite programs here at Murwood.  It's a fun hour or so of your time  (roughly 11:40am-12:45pm) and your help is very much appreciated! Please contact Heather Sosa at  [email protected]  if you can help out!
Boxtops for Education

Hello Murwood families!  Time to bring in those Box Tops from General Mills packaging: items such as cereal, granola bars, trash bags, and many others.  Cut/tear the Box Tops out of the packaging, put them into a baggie/envelope, and bring them to the PTA area of the main office.  PTA will send them off in exchange for $, which can help pay for our fun events we have throughout the year.

WCEF AT BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
At Back to School Night, look for our giant orange decals on classrooms funded by your donations to WCEF such as Art, Music, P.E. & Science in grades TK-5, electives for grades 6-8 and core classes and the Wellness Center at Las Lomas. Your gifts add up to provide an additional $1.2 million in funding and make great schools possible for 5,100 students. For information on what your donations to WCEF help fund, or to participate, visit www.wcefk12.org .

EXTREME PIZZA 15% TO WCEF UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30
Extreme Pizza is back again this year with an offer you should not refuse. Mention WCEF and 15% is donated back to WCEF. That's more $$ to help pay for teacher and specialist salaries as well as academic and wellness programs from TK-12. Last year you helped raise more than $2,200 for WCEF - let's hit $3,000 in 18-19!
