Weekend Lineup
Tribute to Rose Free Dance
Church Picnic Alert: Weimar

The effervescence that was Vlasta "Rose" Bubenik-Wilshire ceased bubbling the first week of July 2018. "Rose" as she was known to the music world of Central Texas finally lost her long battle with cancer with dignity and grace and went to heaven to bring joy to those who preceded her. A tribute dance will be held from 2-6 pm, Sun., Aug. 12 at Taiton Community Center, with music by Texas Legacy Czech Band and Mark Halata & Texavia. Free admission. Donations will be accepted for the Cancer Research Institute. Silent auction. Bring desserts already sliced and ready to serve. Read more of Gary E. McKee's great article on Rose that appeared in the August issue of Texas Polka News.

Church Picnic Alert: St. Michael's in Weimar has quite a good music lineup for their Harvest Feast on Sunday. Lost Cause will provide music for the Polka Mass at 10:30 am. Meanwhile, Shiner Hobo Band will get things started at Veterans Park at 10:30 am. Lost Cause will play at 1 pm, and Chris Rybak will headline the day at 4 pm. Of course, great fried chicken and stew dinner plus all the fun church picnic stuff.
