We meditate for 20 minutes or so, stretch, then meditate again. Late-comers welcome, enter softly. Stay for hearty appetizers (we love your offerings too!) and conversation afterward. Help pass Amendment 4 to restore felon voting rights
Many of you signed a petition to get an amendment to the Florida Constitution
that would restore voting rights to people who have committed felonies after
they have completed their sentences including probation or parole. Now is the
time to begin doing the necessary work to ensure that the amendment passes on
November 6. The UUA and UU Justice FL have joined with a coalition called
Second Chances Campaign to do this work.
This Sunday August 12, Ashley Green, a local activist, will be doing a special
presentation at Open Issues about this amendment. You will have an opportunity
to learn what the amendment says and what it will mean if we pass the
amendment. UU Justice FL has set up a plan for congregations and individuals to
phone bank either in groups or from the comfort of home to encourage the
passage of the amendment. We will also be talking about this on Sunday.
If you want to be involved in doing this important work but can’t come on Sunday,
please contact Linda Stoller at LStol10403@aol.com or stop by the Social Justice
Table any Sunday after the service.
