NAAA Calls on Members to Show Grassroots Support for Regulatory Relief in 2018 Farm Bill

The 2018 Farm Bill is slowly but surely making its way across the finish line. The House and Senate have each passed a farm bill, and a conference committee has been established to resolve the differences between the two bills. While the House bill includes a robust regulatory relief package, the Senate version does not.

NAAA and the agriculture industry have been working to fix these regulatory issues for over a decade. This might be the last opportunity for several years to finally obtain regulatory relief.

NAAA Urges Senators to Give FAA Full Authority Over All Drone Types

As the Senate considers FAA reauthorization, NAAA, along with several other industry partners, sent a

letter to senators urging them to give the FAA the authority to fully regulate recreational and hobby UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems). This coalition, made up of pilots, commercial and general aviation operators, UAS representatives, manufacturers and aviation safety specialists, believes the FAA must have full authority over all UAS for the safety and security of the National Airspace System.

China Imports More Sorghum In May but Trade Tipped To Fall Under TARIFF Pressure

China's imports of sorghum in May rose 59 per cent year on year to 470,000 tonnes, customs data showed on Saturday, despite an anti-dumping move by Beijing a month earlier that had roiled the grains trade.

The surprisingly large number came even after China announced in mid-April that importers of sorghum from the United States would have to put up a 178.6 per cent deposit on the value of shipments.
