Walking Tours of Historic Dover
Now through Labor Day Weekend
The Dover Chamber is once again offering walking tours of historic Dover on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Three different 90 minute walking tours will be offered throughout the summer and take place from one of three Dover locations as specified on the tour schedule.
The next Downtown Tour will be held on
Saturday, August 11th
at 10:30 a.m. leaving from the Dover Chamber parking lot, located at 550 Central Avenue. You will stroll down the Central Avenue Business District while learning about the rise and fall of the textile industry, "Dover's Black Day," and notable visitors and residents of Dover's past. You will also visit the Cochecho, Bellamy and Piscataqua Rivers that gave Dover its economic advantage, from shipbuilding, to farming, to leading the way in cotton manufactured goods from the 1820s to 1880s. Along the way, you will notice the ten different types of architecture used throughout the city dating back to the late 1700s.

2018 Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race

River Street, Dover
The Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race kicks off the Seacoast's premier autumn street festival. The 5K Road Race starts on River Street and ends on Washington Street in downtown Dover. The USTAF certified course runs directly through the Apple Harvest Day festival site on Washington Street and Central Avenue, and then winds through historic Dover on a rolling course that is suitable for beginner runners and walkers, as well as advanced racers.

On Saturday, September 8, 2018 the 5th annual Monarch School of New England Bike Ride & Walk will be held to benefit students with special needs participating in vocational programs. With 50, 30, 20 and 10 mile cycling routes, and a 2.5 mile walk, there is an event for everyone. Mill and Farm: Exhibit at Wentworth House
Sundays through October 7th 1pm to 4pm
Colonel Paul Wentworth House, 47 Water Street, Rollinsford
In the 1800s, the small town of Rollinsford was comprised of two distinct communities: the industrial mill village of Salmon Falls, largely populated by recent immigrants, and the outlying farms worked by old Yankee families. Mill and Farm: The Two Faces of a New England Town, a new exhibit at the Colonel Paul Wentworth House, illustrates these two different aspects of life in the town in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Through the stories of individual families and through objects such as tools, account books, school records, dance cards, and photographs, the exhibit compares and contrasts the lives of Rollinsford's farmers and mill workers. Many of the objects are on loan from private collections and have not been previously exhibited. The exhibit is open to visitors from 1 to 4 pm on Sundays until mid-October. Admission to the house and the exhibit is $5; free for ARCH members and children under 16. Additionally, throughout the month of August, admission is free for all Rollinsford residents. 6th Annual Trick or Trot 5K & Kids Fun Run
Sunday, October 28th, 8:15am
Shaws Lane, Dover
A fundraiser for the DMS PTA, the race will begin at Shaws Lane, in Dover, New Hampshire at
8:15am with the Kids Fun Run; all children in costume will receive a spooky treat. At
9:00am, the 5K race will begin; medals and cash prices for the top three male and female finishers will be awarded.
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance the DMS student experience by funding field trips, equipment and supplies for the nurse's office, library, and wellness departments. In addition, funds raised will support materials for all classrooms, recess supplies, and special programs like the anti-bullying program, Safe Kids Strong Teens and other activities that benefit DMS students.

Athletes will be enrolled in our B.A.R.S. belt system and test for each belt as the class progresses every six weeks! All levels welcome!

Ride the Amtrak Great Dome Car
Beginning Saturday, August 11th until Sunday, September 9th, 2018
Experience panoramic views of the scenic villages, coastline, marshes, streams and landscapes from Amtrak's Great Dome Car. This vintage car was built in 1955 and features an upper level with windows on all sides (including the roof).
Dome Car seats are available at no extra cost, but available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passengers are encouraged to rotate in and out of the Dome Car to allow all passengers the ability to enjoy this unique experience.
