A Good Time Was Had By All!
It has been wonderful, a real joy, to have a few of our staff and my foster daughter, Eunice, here to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Hines Ugandan Ministries. Though I have been in Uganda for 24 ½ years, the official ministry started in 1999. I want to say thank you to each and every one of you that was able to attend and share in this special time with us. However, it is an anniversary to celebrate the work that God has been doing in the lives of the people in Uganda through HUM, and you have all been a big part of this. Your prayerful and financial support has been a big part of this, as we would not have been able to help the children and people without your support. It was so wonderful to see so many of you, even if I could not talk as much as I would have loved to with you all. I was so happy to see you. You mean a lot to me, and I give thanks to God for each and every one of you that was there and all who couldn’t be there.

We need your continued prayers and financial support for this ministry to continue well into the future of helping the children of Uganda. We still have many children that have no help at all and with you we will reach very many of them with the love of Christ. Thank you and lots of love to you all!

Leaving a Legacy with Hines Ugandan Ministries
by Barb Moritzky
Over the years, I have had the privilege to realize the difference a Planned Gift/Legacy Gift can have on non-profits. I’ve witnessed generous donors give through their Estate Plan, Wills, or a Legacy Gift. These came in many forms and were simply done. Hines Ugandan Ministries received a bequest in 2013 from a donor who passed away. This gift allowed HUM to purchase a vehicle, complete several building projects, and establish, for the first time, a small emergency savings account. It was such a blessing that is still giving today.

As my husband, Rand, and I reflected on the past 20 years and the work God has done through Hines Ugandan Ministries, we realized how blessed we have been to partner with Katherine, the Board of Directors, and YOU to see miracles come to fruition in the village of Kamonkoli. A few years back, we began the process of Estate and Will Planning and knew we wanted to continue to support HUM through Legacy Giving. After much research, we discovered there are several easy ways to make this possible. Here is a brief listing of how YOU can include the future of Hines Ugandan Ministries in your charitable giving.
Age 70 ½ and older: Required Minimum Distributions: Quality Charitable Distributions Giving in this way helps reduce your taxable income. You can direct the institution holding your funds to make the donation to HUM. Most likely, there will be a form for you to complete, you will receive a receipt for your files, and then take the standard deduction on your 1040 return. Check with your tax advisor.
·
Life Insurance Beneficiary or IRA Beneficiary:
You may leave a percent of your life insurance policy to HUM by adding the name and EIN number to the beneficiary form.
·
Gift of Securities:
Appreciated stock, held for more than one year, makes an excellent gift to HIM, You may avoid capital gains taxes and receive a charitable tax deduction if you itemize your tax return. Check with your tax advisor.

In celebration of the 20 th Anniversary of Hines Ugandan Ministries , please pray for God’s leading in the area of Legacy and Planned Giving to further the work of God in the village of Kamonkoli and beyond for the salvation and nurturance of Ugandans in need, now and into the future.

Christmas
is coming!
It’s time to begin thinking about Christmas for the sponsored children and others in our Kamonkoli community. Each year we have a big celebration for all of the community kids as well as providing a special Christmas meal to sponsored families, and an outfit, shoes and a small toy for sponsored kids. If you have not yet sent $35 for your sponsored child’s Christmas, now is the time to do so to allow us to do the shopping for over 300 individual kids. If you are not a sponsor you can help too as this helps cover the celebration, kids who’s sponsors are unable to give further and kids on the waitlist as funds allow. Its an exciting time and a time for blessing the kids in practical ways while sharing the birth of Jesus with them.

If you would like to send a Christmas card to your child you can send it to our Colorado office before November 14 and Katherine can take it back with her. Sorry, she cannot accommodate gifts as her space is very limited. You can send packages to our field address, but be aware that sometimes packages can be stolen along the way. Never send money or expensive gifts to the field address. Thank you for caring for these special children.
