Edgewood has been selected to participate in Collegeville Institute's "Communities of Calling Initiative." In addition to a grant up to $30,000 we will join 13 other congregations across the country for the next five years to equip our members to follow our callings (at work, at home, in all aspects of life) and to better understand our calling as a congregation. This fall our leadership team of Marcia Beer, Jon Ritz, and Pastor Liz will go to the opening retreat to learn more about this initiative. CLOTHING DRIVE FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN

We are collecting gently used and new clothing for school children (sizes 4T-16) during July and August. Especially needed are new socks and underwear. The goal of Christian Services is to provide a week's worth of new socks and underwear for each child. Last year they helped clothe over 800 children.      Please place your donation in the bin by the social hall. Thank you for helping children in our area. COMMUNITY EVENTS

RBG Screening 

The c ommunity is invited to free screening of "RBG" at East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. - As part of the 2018 One Book, One Community program, the ELPL, 950 Abbot Road, will host a screening of "RBG" - a documentary that traces the barrier-busting career of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This event is free and open to the public. Using archival footage, the film follows Ginsburg's unique personal journey from a brainy Brooklynite to the nation's highest court. At the age of 85, Ginsburg has developed a lengthy legal legacy, while also becoming an unexpected pop culture icon. What emerges from the film is a portrait of a person who has used her legal career to fight for women and minorities. The film was co-produced by CNN Films and Storyville Films with Magnolia Pictures and Participant Media. It was directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen. The film is rated PG with a run time of 97 minutes. 

Together for the Common Good-BBQ Event

Sunday Aug 12th,  at 3pm at Patriarche Park in East Lansing

With a vision of unifying and strengthening the coalition of groups and individuals in the Lansing area working in the service of the common good, a number of representatives from several organizations are planning a gathering  "Together for the Common Good-BBQ."   There is an interaction of multiple issues that contribute to racism, exclusionary access to health and education, social inequality, climate destabilization,  and systemic oppression.   So we need a multiplicity of groups working on various fronts to strengthen our coalition to make a more inclusive democracy and a community that does all we can to help those we care about.  Here is the link to the flyer: CLICK HERE
